THE advance weather forecast for York is very favourable, with little rain dropping on the Knavesmire for Ebor week, which is a bonus.

It is one of the biggest punting festivals of the year so I'll be taking things a bit easier before the action starts on Wednesday, with RAHEEN HOUSE my ante-post bet for the big handicap on Saturday.

At Windsor this evening, BLACK LOTUS (7.00) can continue Chris Wall's hot streak. He has saddled four winners from his last seven runners and Black Lotus has been given a nice break since disappointing on the Ripon undulations when well fancied. His filly won convincingly earlier in the year at Doncaster and is only 3lb higher now.

TAMMOOZ (8.00) steps up to 1m 3f and Roger Varian's three-year-old is turned out 13 days after finishing third in a tight finish at Newbury, with the principals drawing well clear of the chasing pack.

At Lingfield, CANTINIERE (2.45) is worth a bet returning to the scene of  her wide-margin novice stakes victory last December. She wasn't beaten far by the William Haggas-trained Naqaawa at Chelmsford City and cheek-pieces go on for the first time.

two big priced 2nds cost us over a 5pt day y’day but we still won over 2 with 5 winning bets so good enough.

I prefer to post in the morning as the market could give us indication that the selection has absolutely no chance, I’ll put my picks up here as i don’t point track here and won’t be changing my mind so makes no diff.

    14:45 Lingfield – MANORAH 3/1 0.5pt win

The horse is 4lbs above her win 3 starts back but is dropped back into Class 4 company. We carried 2lb less than the horse in 2nd that day, THANKS BE, a Royal Ascot winner in a C2 race. The return to the AW should also be welcome as today’s jockey was on board last winter when winning over a mile at Kempton. The 2nd that day won lto off 89.

    14:15 Lingfield ZAPPINESS 9/2 0.25pts

Sir Canford could continue a long running trend, in winning his next race after I tipped him, I’ll chance the in form jockey however and hope the 2lb rise for a close 2nd isn’t going to prevent his chances too much.

    20:10 Bangor – MRS DAVIES 4/1 0.25pts win

Brian Hughes must be 1/10 to ride a winner at Bangor, he has a few for Donald McCain and two for Keith Dalgleish, who had 4 winners over the weekend, 3 of those were with Brian Hughes.

I can’t touch Murphy’s Law, he was seemingly well beat by Montys Angel who ran out at the last, MA was travelling well and they are both upped in trip which makes things too much of an unkown. Being raised 4lbs for a 2nd lto doesn’t help out cause either.

Mrs Davies will be making her 6th start over hurdles and looks a slightly better thing despite the big field. She is dropped 1lb and also down into Class 5 company, up 3 furlongs.

    14:30 Catterick – GOOD NIGHT MR TOM 11/8 0.25pts

There isn’t much point abandoning a Mark Johnston runner at the moment. The horse has been upped 7lbs for making virtually all lto and there’s always chance of an upset so a quarter stake is more than fine.

    18:10 Bangor – RED INCA 4/1 0.25pts win

A novice chase isn’t really too reliable but this horse caught my eye as the trainer/jockey had 1 ride yesterday and won it nicely, little things like this are often worth noticing.

The selection is 11yo and hasn’t won for 6 years. He has finised 2nd in three of his four outtings this year and at least has experience on his side. None of his form has been franked, he is back into Class 4 and raised 2lbs, neither of which are positives.

We will meet Dragon Khan again who we somehow beat by a nose lto. We are 1lb better off but that rival travelled much the smoother for a lot longer and it is with caution I take him on. DK hasn’t won since 2016 and would appreciate heavy going.

17:30 Windsor – HALLE’S HARBOUR is 18/1 win but will advise top 3 place bet only

Halle’s Harbour is somewhat of a punt, using the term loosely. This trainer doesn’t run too many, he has won 3 of the 12 this month, but I was watching a race on Saturday where his runner was subject to a gamble, I put a fiver on it and then proceeded to watch the horse play up and take forever to get loaded up. I stupidly cashed out and the horse went on and won.

This isn’t really grounds to pick his other runners, but I am willing to risk a small stake on the bottom weight, the 3lb claimer helps and she has had 3 winners for the trainer over the last few weeks.

zapiness was never 9/2, a typo, 5/2 so there hasnt been a ”gamble” as yet at least :D

Morning. Well done all recent winners.

I like to do a lucky 31 of horses to place at a price; if three or more land I am happy. Can anyone suggest anything from today? It only needs to place – a place is as good as a win for me with this.

    Thanks.

Points are better – putting up cash amounts encourages irresponsible gambling to stick to points please.

Cheers Recoba, mel from wolves prefer coop thou.

No probs Mr F, but ‘surely to god’ we are all in charge of our own actions? Like saying I had 10 pints last night, would this encourage Irresponsible Drinking?

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Gambling can wreck lives as we know and some people can see big stakes quoted and think they want to copy – we have a duty on this site to encourage responsibility.
We don’t sell or promote drinking so that’s a different but equally addictive problem.

    Youceeyouceecee 4/1 6.50 ross

Has won this race for the past 2 years off marks of 64 and 67. Back for the hat-trick and is off 63 tonight with the jockey taking a further 3lbs off. Wide draw not a real concern as he won from stall 15 last year.

Mc Cain usually gets one or two here, probably won’t be mine, but we live in hope

Often when he has 2 in a race the outsider of the 2 wins.
Can’t see the herds garden beating see the sea though in the 6-40
In the last he has 2 outsiders, won’t be surprised if one of them ran a big race.
