BOERHAN (7.00) stands out as cracking bet at Chelmsford City this evening. The William Haggas-trained colt ran third to Kick On and Walkinthesand in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket's Craven meeting last month and this is a drop in grade.
There were some Classic pointers on display at Chester yesterday and Aidan O'Brien is well represented again today. However, I'll stick to the handicaps and CROWNTHORPE (5.05) is worth backing under a 5lb penalty for Monday's comfortable Beverley success. Richard Fahey's four-year-old is a hold-up performer, so will need a rub of the green off the home bend, but a fast pace will suit his style of racing.
Fahey has a good chance of landing the extended 7f handicap with Beverley runner-up King Of Tonga but LINCOLN PARK (3.00) wins a narrow vote. Mick Appleby's colt defied 10st 1lb to land a Haydock nursery (heavy) last October and his recent fourth to in-form Coolagh Forest at Musselburgh should have put him spot-on.
The importance of a low draw in sprints was again emphasised yesterday and COPPER KNIGHT (1.50) will be hard to beat if breaking cleanly from stall one in the opening 5f sprint. His comeback fourth to Saaheq at Musselburgh will have done him the world of good.
