RAKHINE STATE (1.50) is one for favourite backers in the opener at Perth. Gordon Elliott and Richard Johnson have a loyal following at the Scone track and Rakhine State ran a fine fourth to Zero Ten at Leopardstown, with the winner subsequently finishing runner-up in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Fairyhouse.

At Beverley, MOTAFAAWIT (3.20) can defy top weight sporting the Hamdan Al Maktoum silks. The gelding was beaten a head by Legends Of War at Newbury in July and that piece of form looks stronger than Nefarious's Wolverhampton victory in January.

AGAR'S PLOUGH (4.25) caught the eye at Pontefract, running on into fifth behind Casement. That was the four-year-old's first outing for Mick Easterby since leaving Ed Dunlop and some improvement can reasonably be expected.

PROUD ARCHI (4.55) rates a decent each-way punt as he runs the Yorkshire track very well, beating Magical Effect and Areen Heart here last summer. He should be all the better for his sixth to Right Action in a 19-runner handicap at Doncaster's Lincoln fixture.

small stakes, nothing rock solid from me today.

225P THEFLYINGPORTRAIT’s trainer is seeking a 3rd straight win and she has her main man on board, big Sean Quinlan, who must be one of the hottest jockeys around at the minute, his strike rate is absolutely fantastic 11244F2211PU4. The horse is up 4lbs for a 14l win 3 starts, the 3rd has won since off 120 albeit in a C4. We drop back into C3 having contested 2 C1 races this year.
    ti win 7/1, top 2 finish 2/1

405P – SUN CLOUD comes with risks given he is 12yo, but he did perform adequately LTO and the assistance of an 8lb claimer instills enough confidence for me to bet on him, especially since he was winning this race 2 years back off 1lb higher. He was only tried 4 times last year and with his days numbered we can cross our fingers that he well have been aimed at this race.
He is 8/1 to win but I will go 7/4 to place top 3.

330P – BIG MATRE was winning a C1 over this distance exactly 1 year ago. He will be running off 12lbs lower in a C2 today and that is good enough for me to overlook his 2 most recent tame C1 efforts. He has a few decent scalps to his name including Cheltenham winner Cobra De Mai.
    to win 4/1

my last 6 big trebles, have all had the first 2 in and the 3rd lose, and ive turned down every offer, two £650s, and then £150-£300s, absolute moron. just turned down two, bets totalling £25, could’ve walked for £400. u ever get offered 1, 2 3, 4, 5, 600 more than your initial bet with 1 to run my advice to take it. gross!

ive turned 100 into 4000 in under 3 weeks, so i can afford to let them play out in the hope to hit much bigger, but it is just the shear amount of times it has now happened in quick succession with many of the final horses coming 2nd or being smashed in the betting.

however, if you want to be a serious gambler, then the decisions i have been making have been absolutely ridiculous and it is advice i am sharing to anyone else who may be on a similar journey, if i would have cashed out just those 6 alone, it would’ve been an extra 2k, half my entire bank roll and in such early days of building it (again :D) these are mistakes i am making yet again in the tough learning curve that is racing.

so yes, as i say, greed is the bookies biggest friend, when you have numbers on a screen and a lack of value for money it is easy to do, i’m just lucky to be in a good position right now but obviously i have chased before and just thought it’d be helpful to anyone reading as that side of things is never really discussed here, probably because most of you are a lot more wiser than i am.

ok Mate fair enough ive gone on a bit of a break since Cheltenham but will be back for the big events this summer I used to bet during the week but realised that this wasn’t feasible long term and so I save up money from my paychecks and get involved with a few hundred when the big events come up I did well at Cheltenham and at the Gn now the next one im getting involved in is Chester and The dante at York with a bit of homework these events can pay well.

sounds smart, and a lot less stressful, i am in a good as a position as i’ve ever been, but still after these cash out failers, i’ve gone on a bender, 25 EW on 4 different no hopers, and then even still was up 100 and since besides a 50 double which is live, given them my daily float money back, but all is good just need to tame the ego and expectancy of winning. must start writing my epiphanies down as they are quickly forgotten.
