THE Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes is one of the track’s marquee races and DAKOTA GOLD (3.30) can bounce back to winning form.
He hasn't struck peak form so far this season but fared better when showing speed to lead for four furlongs in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon, conceding lumps of weight to 18 rivals. Dakota Gold is drawn eight of the ten runners and although that is wider than ideal, the runners often gravitate to the stands' side on soft ground.
Julie Camacho, successful last year with Judicial, bids to follow up by saddling Makanah. Her gelding led over a furlong out but couldn’t quite contain Mountain Peak at Haydock. Keep Busy, the sole three-year-old, proved her well-being with a close second to Lady In France at York last week.
Major Jumbo is equipped with blinkers for the first time but Kevin Ryan’s sprinter finished just behind Tarboosh when unplaced in the City Wallas Stakes at York. Last year’s runner-up Queens Gift and speedy veteran Caspian Prince are positioned in stalls nine and ten respectively. Top-rated Alpha Delphini, lightly-raced these days, took this valuable scalp in 2016 but beat only one home on reappearance at York last month.
The cards could fall right again for dual course winner ACCOMPLICE (4.55) in the Betway Live Casino Handicap at Lingfield. Michael Blanshard’s mare remains in good nick and gave in-form Burguillos plenty to think about at Salisbury last time. She is a knocking each-way bet at 8-1 with Paddy Power.
