Alan Thomson has a brace of bets on a low-key Sunday
ANCIENT ASTRONAUT (3.28) was the subject of a major gamble which came unstuck two days ago but a recovery mission has been launched at Lingfield.
The gelding had little chance of winning at Wolverhampton after taking a fierce hold, and his jockey was forced very wide on the home bend. Ancient Astronaut is better judged on his narrow defeat previously and he has had better luck with the draw in stall two.
VOLCANO (3.42) returns to the scene of his latest victory at Warwick and should go well in the very demanding 3m 5f handicap chase. The grey wasn't disgraced behind Subcontinent when moved up slightly in grade at Ludlow and William Hill go four places at 10-1.
Cheltenham Countdown

On old form this would have a serious chance but ran shite after a long break recently so will need to show something like his old form before chucking money at it
I like the Curtis/Bowen combo and she maybe is giving him time to see if his old form returns.
