Saturday was the day for placed horses, with Mr Wagyu running his usual race and finishing in the places after travelling very well. Live In The Moment might have been on the wrong side of the track in his race, only two runners went to the stands' side in that race and he was one of them, so I thought he did well to finish in the places as well.
Deauville 12:58 – Live In The Dream 2/1 (1pt Bet365)
I tipped up his half-brother on Saturday at Goodwood, he didn't get the win, so hopefully Live In The Dream does manage to get his head in front today, and I think he has a nice opportunity.
The ground seems to be soft all year round in France, and Sunday is no different with the ground being ‘Very Soft' the night before and they are expecting rain to fall at the North French track, which should make it very testing. My selection, Live In The Dream, has some excellent recent form, especially on soft ground so we know for a fact that he'll handle today's conditions and considering this is a Listed race, I'd be happy enough to say he's the best horse in this race.
He has only tried Class 1 races three times prior to today, which has seen him be placed on every occasion, but he is more than capable of making his presence felt against today's opposition which is definitely a drop in class to what he has been against so far this season. He was 2nd to Vadream in a Group 3, that mare is a superb operator on soft ground so losing out to her is nothing to be ashamed of, then he finished 3rd behind Dramatised, who was fully revved up for the Group 2 that day and looked to be back to her brilliant best which we saw in her juvenile season. The recent run at Haydock was on good to firm ground, and I'd say that though LITD handles that type of ground, he is seen to best effect on soft ground, which has yielded his best run to date, running to an RPR of 113 as well as recording an RPR of 110 in a Class 2 handicap at Pontefract at the start of the season.
He is a very quick horse who likes to make the running, so hopefully he breaks well and grabs the rail which is important at Deauville and if so, he should be tough to peg back.
Deauville 3:25 – Art Power 7/4 (1pt Bet365)
Stall 9 isn't ideal for Art Power who likes to make the running, but I still believe that he is the best horse in this race.
I've been looking out for the ante-post market for the flying five Group 1 at the Curragh, as I think that Art Power would be a great bet in that race due to him being a monster at that track. He is a very good racehorse on his day, he just can't get his head in front at the top level when racing in the UK, which is a little strange and I'm not sure why, but the Irish tracks seem to suit him better. He handles any ground, but has run particularly well on soft ground when in Ireland, so today's ground at Deauville isn't a problem. I'm slightly concerned about the trip, which is 6.5F as he is such a strong traveller and an easy lead doesn't look on the cards in this race, so a strong pace might catch him out, but I think he is the class horse in the race and I hope that David Allan doesn't pester too much for the lead, let him settle just behind Gold Case, who will more than likely be the pacesetter and then kick clear with a furlong or two to go, as he does have an electric turn of foot on soft ground.

Final day of the Galway Festival. Its not been a bad week and will end in profit (only slightly) regardless of what happens today so have taken a few chances because of that.
1.50 Hearts are Trumps 18/1 ew 5 places
Teed Up will be difficult to beat even off 10lbs higher than when winning this race last year but HAT finally got his head in front 12 days ago having not won since 2021. He’s 7lbs higher today but has won off much higher in the past and now that he’s managed to win it might kick start him again.
2.20 Macgiloney 25/1 ew 6 places
He’s back on the same mark as when winning this race 2 years ago but the jockey takes a further 5lbs off. Was withdrawn last year due to the ground as he has to have ‘good’ in the description so hopefully the rain stays away.
3.30 Vado Forte 14/1 ew 4 places
Won this race last year off a 6lb higher mark. Has been running in graded h’caps hence why he’s dropped in the ratings. I’m sure this has been the target all year
4.00 Dunum 6/1 NAP
Current Option has won this race for the past 3 years off marks of 105, 99 and 97 and today runs off 95 with the jockey taking a further 5lbs off so he should be well capable of making it 4 wins on the trot.
However, he’s drawn in stall 9 and his 3 previous wins he was either drawn low or high and if you looked at the stats I put up earlier in the week, you would have noticed that being drawn in the middle is NOT the place to be so I’m taking him on and sticking with Dunum who ran well for 3rd during the week. That was over the Mile where he led at the furlong mark but was caught . I think dropping back to 7f will be ideal today.
BOL
Hearts are Trumps now a NR
Ffs Macgiloney also a NR
With 2 NRs in the first 2 races I decided to look for alternatives so I at least have an interest

Fascinating bumper to end the festival with another ‘Vega’ in the shape of Aurora Vega who sauntered to victory on her only start.
But Patrick has chosen the other Mullins runner You Outta Know who also won his only start easily.
It will be interesting to see if he’s chosen correctly. Personally I’d be leaning towards Vega especially getting the mares allowance but I’m sure Patrick is a better judge than me.
I wonder what prices they will actually go off at.
Vega a NR

For a millisecond watching this Live last night i thought “Ya lucky swine!” only to not give a $hit as it became clear it wasn’t just a strange jockey unseating and Maple Leaf Mel had crumbled to the dirt hard and you had to fear the worst.
A beaten ‘Pretty Mischievous’ won due to what was the craziest finish to a race ending in tragedy I’ve ever seen in racing! ?
HRN/Racepost
*Maple Leaf Mel is euthanised; Pretty Mischievous wins Saratoga Test*
With an eighth of mile left to go in the Grade 1 $500,000 Test Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, the crowd was roaring as Maple Leaf Mel’s stride was strong and her lead in the seven-furlong race was widening.
Melanie Giddings, 39, the trainer of the three-year-old filly who is named for her, was hollering for her stable star as the filly got closer to the finish line. Giddings, who has been running her own stable since only November, was about to win her first Grade 1 with a horse so close to her heart.
And then, tragedy!
Ten yards away from a certain victory, the unthinkable. Maple Leaf Mel, who had built up a three-length lead and was on the way to Grade 1 glory, stumbled in the shadow of the wire, pitching jockey Joel Rosario to the dirt and falling herself.
Giddings’ screams of excitement turned to agony as she wailed as her brave grey got to her feet, but the damage was done.
Maple Leaf Mel had sustained a catastrophic injury to her right front leg and was humanely destroyed on the track. Giddings was inconsolable as she was met on the track by Bill Parcells, the Hall of Fame football coach who owned the filly.
The two hugged as Maple Leaf Mel was put to sleep behind multiple screens to shield the scene from a Whitney Day record crowd of 43,788, whose noise had gone from a crescendo of joyful noise to sullen silence”
A Replay of the race was available to the end for about 10 minutes on ATR before realised they best cut it!
It’s hard to grasp exactly what happened by reading it and it’s on YouTube but be WARNED it’s a horrible watch for lovers of horse racing or just animals in general!

One more that runs a lot earlier from Ireland making USA debut tonight .
Del Mar -R1…Ellie Moore 11/10 ****
Ex Irish horse and Phil D’Amato does very well with these purchases but this horse looks a particularly good one.
He was bought after 1 run at Curragh finishing 2nd to Porta Fortuna!
He went out next 2 races and won a Stakes and then a G3 and has multiple G2-3 entries coming up .
workouts look very good Vs mostly debut horses but I suppose its Ellie Moore debut too.
Panic Alarm 5/2 *****. Be Nap if you will.
A bit like Ellie Moore he was brought over by John Sadler and finished 3rd to Paddington 23rd of March then ran well in a Listed race and he should be good to go in this G3.
GL ? ?? ?⚖️
Great!
Saratoga -R8 Becky’s Joker 4/1 gets in as first reserve and ran in a stakes race on debut so not as confident with my selection Here U Come Again but it’s in with top weight by 6lbs and bets on now.

Wee R/forecast with it No: 10-3.
