Something has come up, and as a result, Rizz can't cover Monday's racing. Rizz should return tomorrow evening, all being well.

As usual, Cairnzy will step in to cover in Rizzel's absence, and he has a sole selection on offer for Monday.

Rizz had three selections yesterday, and he walked away with one winner in the shape of Puerto Rico, who was advised at 4/1 last night, ensuring it was a profitable day on the thread.

Action Pact 5/2 – Pontefract 4.50

First of all, it's nice to be back! I didn't expect to be back so soon after my previous cover, but things come up here and there, and I told Rizz when I stepped down entirely that I would always be here when he needed me. Hopefully, my sole selection on Monday can get the job done for us.

I was asked out of the blue to cover in Rizzel's absence, so the time I had to look at Monday's racing has been quite limited. As a result, I will only have the sole selection on Monday, but there wasn't much that jumped out at me when glancing over the meetings, which is too be expected on a Monday anyway.

I had some success last week, particularly when tipping in those smaller runner affairs, and I've opted to take the same approach on Monday. My selection comes in the shape of the M&D Easterby-trained Action Pact. I'm a big fan of the Easterby yard, and they tend to do well when it comes to placing their horses. Their unexposed runner in this field in Action Pact looks to hold strong claims, and I thought he had a great chance of turning over the market favourite Dreams Adozen. Your favourite Dreams Adozen is an unreliable sort, and his form figures would back that point up. He does take a significant drop in grade for this contest, but I thought he would be vulnerable to an improver, and Action Pact ticks the boxes for me as being that horse.

My selection is still to win a race, but was seemingly unsuited to the shorter distance affairs he contested in earlier on in his career. Connections gradually stepped him up in trip, and he has improved with each race as the distance in trip was increased. Action Pact has finished third and second in his recent two outings, with his most recent third being a standout performance as he rattled home in the run-in to fill the placings, suggesting he needs further, which is what he will get in here. Action Pact can run off the same mark for this contest, and I think he is a bit better than his current rating of 65.
