Friday’s Free Racing Tips: Apprentice Allowance Gives Whittle Le Woods a Wonder Chance

It’s been a pretty frustrating week with a case of seconditis hitting our racing thread quite badly.

As Rizzel already summed up on his write up last night, the study is normally bang on the money but the luck just isn’t there at present. Hopefully the tide will turn quickly and the winners start coming again.

Harrow, as I expected, reversed the form with Blue Trial who was massively disappointing however he wasn’t good enough on the day to peg back the eventual winner.

He didn’t seem to settle at all in the first half of the race and didn’t really come on for the run at Kempton to suggest he’s going to be a class act anytime soon. Still early days of course but I’m not convinced.

It’s a busy Friday card and I’ve gone for a runner in the evening meeting at Southwell. Fingers crossed we have a turn of fortune.

Whittle Le Woods has been a model of consistency for Mick Appleby. He’s improved hugely with every run and seems to be always bang there in the business end.

He ran in a class 2 last Saturday at Kempton where he finished 5th. I’m more than happy to draw a line through the run given the way the race folded out in the straight. He was squeezed out when a few of them were in a line sprinting for home and he lost all momentum as a result.

Prior to the run at Kempton he won a class 2 handicap at Wolverhampton so straight away I know he’s capable at this level hence why I’m happy enough to draw a line through his last run.

Mick Appleby has booked apprentice Harry Davies for the ride and that’s a great booking in my opinion. His claim results in my selection effectively running of a lower mark which enhances his chances even further of going close in a race that looks less competitive to the one he ran in last Saturday.
