Friday's racing has arrived again, is it just me or is the time absolutely whizzing by?

Your usual busy Friday of competitive racing is upon us and I’m hoping I can pick out a winner from Ascot.

Aggagio 13/8 – Ascot 14:35

I really fancy the chances of Aggagio in the 14:35. He’s a tough sort who seems to always just do enough to get his head in front when it matters which for us punters is a good thing.

Why? Well because he’s always just doing enough and not winning by wider margins means the handicapper isn’t doing much towards him and I still feel he’s ahead of his handicap mark.

Aggagio made it a nice 3 wins from the previous 5 outings when battling like a warrior to get his head in front in the final 100 yards earlier this month at Goodwood.

He still looks pretty well treated in my eyes with a mark of 87 and if able to reproduce a similar sort of run to his Goodwood run earlier this month should see him bang there at the finish.

I’m also a big fan of Rhys Clutterbuck who takes the ride, he keeps things simple and doesn’t overcomplicate rides.

Carnival Zain ( TO PLACE ) 11/8 – 2:00 Ascot

This is a competitive race and the 5lb rise for Carnival Zain was a bit of concern for me although you can argue maybe it’s not due to the recent wide-margin success at Thirsk last month.

Becky Smith seems to get a real tune out of the Micky Hammonds runner and there’s still reason to believe there’s more progression on the way.

Carnival Zain is versatile ground-wise and has won races up the mile. He stays the mile well so the drop back to 7f is in no way a concern for me.

Given the competitiveness of the race and my slight concern on the 5lb rise, I’ve opted to use the place market as I still feel 11/8 is a decent price for the horse to hit the frame.

Cadmus 3/1 – 3:10 Ascot

I always enjoy taking on a short-priced favourite, 9 times out of 10 it’ll come back and bite you on the back side but if I see a horse with potential at better odds I’m all over it.

Cadmus I think is the best of the bunch if you fancy taking on the short-priced 8/13 favourite Sweet William who’s massively fancied to win tomorrow.

Cadmus is a horse who’s got potential around these middle distances and he showed that when Balding pitched him in a 1m4 recently at Wolverhampton where he stayed on nicely to finish behind the eventual short-priced favourite El Habeeb.

It’s hard to judge that form as El Habeeb was thrown into the deep end afterwards in class 1 where he was sent off at a price of 150/1. He didn’t finish last that day and he did finish ahead of French Acclaim and Hoo Ya Mal who are both decent sorts in their own right.

I do expect Cadmus to improve on the turf and at 3/1 he’s worth a few quid if you fancy a bet against the favourite.

William Buick takes the ride, an obvious plus in itself.

Let me know in the comments your best tips for Friday's racing!

Good luck!
