I apologise in advance that I didn’t have anything up for the recent big meetings on the flat but I’ve decided to jump on tomorrow to make up for lost time, fingers crossed I can get a winner from somewhere.
Straight away my eyes were drawn to GOLDEN GAL in the opener at Wolverhampton. She’s been a model of consistency for Ollie Pears with form figures of 1312 in her previous 4 races over the minimum trip and over 6f.
She finished 2nd last time out at Catterick and was very unlucky that day. The front 5 or 6 went for home and she was still travelling well in behind. When push came to shove she very quickly made her challenge but unfortunately couldn’t peg back the eventual winner, although another 30 or 40 yards and she would have done.
She’s already beaten a couple in this field including Brazen Akoya and Miss Belladona. If she turns up in any sort of form like she has been in recent runs she’ll give you a proper run for your money and at not a bad price of 9/4.
I was surprised to see RATTLING not marked up as favourite for this race although when you see a young Archie Watson runner with James Doyle on board it does normally swerve the market regardless of what form says on paper.
Regardless of that I’m sticking with my selection to come out on top. There’s a big weight allowance going in Rattling's favour with the Archie Watson runner having to concede roughly a full stone to my selection.
On top of the weight factor Rattling found only one too good last time out in the shape of Clitheroe who’s now rated 96.
Rattling hit the front in that race and stuck on well under the Ryan Moore drive but just wasn’t good enough on the day. I still think that form is the best on offer in this race and hopefully rattling improve again from that recent run.
