Cairnzys Racing: Infinite Cosmos can upset the apple cart

Royal Ascot has been a nice spectacle so far with some great performances and of course, some big upsets which is to be expected.

With day 3 on the horizon, I thought I'd jump on with a sole selection.

Infinite Cosmos – 3:40 Royal Ascot – 8/1 or 4/1 Betting without favourite.

This is a cracking race and all eyes are on Al Asifah who's only been seen a couple of times but looks like a monster and if taking this step up in trip in her stride could probably win this by countless lengths. She was actually only pitched into this race very recently last week after her impressive win at Goodwood last month. But you can understand why given the nature of her victories. However, at the current price of 8/11, I've decided to take a punt on the Sir Michael Stoute trained Infinite Cosmos. Another who I think will relish the step up in trip and could progress further.

She was beaten just under 5 lengths into third by Soul Sister in the Musidora at York last time out. She knuckled down well that day to keep on challenging in the business end and I think the step up to 1m4 will ease out further improvement.

I think Infinite Cosmos 3rd place finish behind Soul Sister is a cracking piece of form to take into the race given Soul Sister then went on to land the Oaks at Epsom over todays distance beating the massively fancied O'Brien runner savethelastdance who was sent off at 5/6 on the day.

8/1 is definitely a nice price and I also thought 4/1 betting without the short priced favourite was also decent value if you want to be a little more cautious with your money.
