ALAN gets the week under way with picks from Ffos Las and Wolverhampton and there's also racing from Plumpton today.
Ffos Las 1.10
Evan Williams saddles four in the maiden hurdle and the best of his quartet may be ON THE ROX. The winner of a Newcastle bumper for Sally Haynes in February, On The Rox had his first start for Williams here last month.
Although beaten 18 lengths in fourth, easy winner Al Dancer bolted up at Cheltenham at the weekend. Monsieur Lecoq hung badly when third in a decent juvenile hurdle at Fontwell and will find this a lot easier than his last run in a Listed hurdle at Auteuil. He could go off at short odds, and On The Rox should be an each-way price.
Ffos Las 1.45
COUGAR’S GOLD won with plenty of authority at Uttoxeter and should go close under a 7lb rise at Ffos Las. This is a slightly stronger contest but he stayed the 2m 5f trip stoutly after finding three miles over-taxing on his previous visit to Ffos Las.
LADY LIZZY has found one too good on each of her three starts but is worth another chance at Wolverhampton this evening. Karl Burke has fitted cheek-pieces this time and Lady Lizzy probably wouldn’t need to improve on her second to Ed Walker’s Baba Ghanouj on her last visit, with fourth horse Red Hot winning at Newcastle a couple of nights ago.
Archie Watson’s Kheros is penalised but will be fancied to concede the weight to Lady Lizzy. Walker saddles Hidden Pearl and will have a form line to Lady Lizzy through Baba Ghanouj.
