I HAD a brilliant day at Aintree on Friday despite only managing to find one winner. Due to my fragile state of body and mind I have a slightly shorter write up than usual for today but quite a few I am keen on.
1.45pm Gaskells Handicap Hurdle
BURROWS PARK won well for me two weeks ago at Kelso and although up in the weights I can see him going very close in this better race. The other I like is POKER PLAY for David Pipe. Looks a classy animal to me with plenty of improvement.
2.25pm Mersey Novices Hurdle
CHOSEN MATE each way here for the bang in form Gordon Elliott. Horse is unexposed and could be very good.
3.00pm Maghull Novices Chase
Incredibly I find myself drawn to LALOR here. Not a race to go mad in because it is very open and all have question marks but Lalor should appreciate the track and I’m giving him the nod.
3.40pm Stayers Hurdle
Apples Jade should win but she was so poor at Cheltenham that there must be something wrong with her and I don’t know if they have fixed it. No bet for me here because I can’t find any each way value against her.
4.20pm Betway Handicap Chase
I really like DEBECE in this one who is now vying for favouritism but I’m happy to go with him. Young, progressive and in form so should be there or thereabouts.
5.15pm Grand National
Not got much to add for the National on top of my complete runner by runner guide and tips which I posted yesterday.
6.20pm Pinsent Masons Handicap Hurdle
I was recently given a very kind gift of a small share in a horse called Legal History who was due to run in this but was pulled out because of the softer ground which was disappointing because he would have been well in. In his absence I like ALWAYS RESOLUTE for Ian Williams and LORD YEATS who we have backed on the flat before.
I’ll go for each way bets on both of those to round off the week.
