After all the American Whistling Straits heroics at the Ryder Cup last weekend, the PGA Tour resumes with business as usual.
This week on the PGA calendar it’s the Sanderson Farms Championship at Country Club of Jackson, Mississippi.
The 144 field will all be competing on this par 72 parkland lay out for the title and $1.188m first prize cheque.
The weather forecast for the tournament is to be sunny and warm with the storms that have battered Mississippi pre-tournament, moving on.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting from 1pm on Thursday.
So let’s move on with some selections for the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Sam Burns
For my first and main selection I’m going to single out a player who has quickly risen up to World No25 in the rankings, Sam Burns 16/1 EW Bet365.
The talented 25yr old from Louisiana has been all over my radar recently. He has already won that elusive maiden PGA title when winning the Valspar Championship earlier this year.
Burns has also come close on a few occasions and bagged us plenty each way profit in the process if you follow my selections.
T2nd at the WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational, runner-up at the AT&T Byron Nelson and 3rd at The Genesis Invitational.
We will be hearing much more about this kid, he has such a bright future ahead with plenty success I’m sure. I’m thinking Sam Burns can double up on his PGA title tally with a victory at Sanderson Farms this weekend.
Will Zalatoris
For my next selection I’m liking the look of Will Zalatoris 20/1 EW Bet365.
After his PGA Tour rookie of the year season the young, talented 25yr old from San Francisco will be eyeing up a victory any time soon.
2nd at The Masters in Augusta and 8th at The PGA Championship this year and his last three tournaments reading 11th, 29th and 8th then Zalatoris comes to Mississippi with recent decent form to his name.
With most of the big guns absent after Ryder Cup duties then this could open the door and provide a perfect opportunity for someone like Zalatoris to claim that elusive maiden PGA victory.
Corey Conners
For my next pick I’m going to advise Corey Conners 25/1 EW Betfair.
The ever-consistent Conners is another who could be a likely winner in Jackson this weekend looking for his second PGA crown.
The 29yr old Canadian has already bagged the Valero Texas Open and his recent major form is excellent; 15th at The Open Championship at Royal St George’s, 17th at the USPGA Championship and 8th at The Masters.
I’ve got a feeling Conners may be the one they all have to beat this week and he will be challenging from the start until the finish on the final back nine on Sunday evening.
Corey Conners v Sergio Garcia
For my final selection it’s the customary 72 hole matchbet and I’m going to pick Corey Conners again to get the better of Sergio Garcia who may be still suffering after the Ryder Cup last weekend.
