THIS week the European Tour travels to the beautiful island of Mauritius for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at the Four Seasons Golf course in Anahita, Beau Champs.
The Ernie Els-designed track has a stunning backdrop of the mountains and surrounding scenery. This course will suit long-hitters and I’ll be looking at them for my selections.
In-form Aussie Scott Hend is worth a look. Last year he was T5 in this tournament at the Heritage GC and his form has been excellent this year with a win a three top-10 finishes. With a T4 and T6 in his last two tournaments in China he is in form. He is 30 under par for his last eight rounds and with his length I wouldn’t be surprised to see him challenging.
A lot of people having been talking up South African Dean Burmester lately and with four top-15 finishes from six outings I can see why. His average length off the tee is a staggering 318.96 yards and his accuracy isn’t bad at just under 56%. With a GIR of 69.44% and putts per round of 29.5 he is in there with a chance.
