Friday’s Betting Tips: Irish Rovers Can Land Winning Double

Friday night, the end of the season can only mean one thing… we're off to Ireland.

The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division is the best Europe has to offer tonight.

League leaders Shamrock Rovers suffered a surprise defeat at Drogheda last week but should bounce back with a win against Shelbourne at Tallaght Stadium.

Luckily for the Hoops, Derry City failed to capitalise on their slip up last week as they also went down 2-1 to Sligo and failed to close the gap. Rovers won't want to give the chasing pack any encouragement and can build on their solid home form (W8 D1) with another win tonight at short odds of 3/10.

The form team at the moment is Dundalk and we cashed in on the last Friday when they dug out a win at Finn Harps thanks to a solitary Daniel Kelly strike. They look worth taking on again at 23/20 when they host St Pats tonight.

The visitors' 3-0 victory over Bohs last weekend ended a run of three without a win but the Lilywhites now sit above them in the table with a game in hand. Former Hamilton striker Tunde Owolabi scored a hat-trick for the Dubliners against Bohs so he'll be the man to watch.

But Dundalk's recent form can't be overlooked, it's now just one loss in 11 and that defeat was to top-of-the-table Shamrock Rovers. They host Rovers at Oriel Park in three weeks' time and will be keen to keep in touch with the league leaders. They're unbeaten at home (W6 D2) which bodes well for the three points staying in Dundalk tonight.

At the bottom of the table, UCD looks out of their depth. Having won promotion via the play-offs they've struggled to make their mark in the top flight and won just once in 17 attempts. That said, they've taken points off the likes of Dundalk, Bohemians and tonight's opponents Sligo Rovers.

Sligo, who finished third last season, have had a mixed season so far (W6 D6 L6) but they've already won at the other two bottom-three sides so should record a win in the capital this evening.

Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees Greg focus on the Irish Premier Division and there’s a match he likes the look of for goals at both ends.
