I BOUGHT my RFO (Racing & Football Outlook) as usual on Tuesday morning – and within half an hour I'd thrown away the racing section.
The cancellation of all racing was the latest blow to punters and bookmakers alike and just about everything we know and love has been wiped out.
However, the RFO reminded me there is one way to have a bet even if it is a bit of a lottery.
In fact the cancellation of all football could give the pools companies a huge lift as the pools panel will sit and predict the results of 49 English and Scottish matches that should have been played this weekend – everything from Wolves vs Bournemouth and Cove vs Albion Rovers.
The RFO's predicted a result for every game and picked out their best homes, aways and draws.
I'm aware their pools section is always good but I hardly glance at it and wonder how many people actually play the pools.
Growing up it was part of life with coupons being delivered to your house then picked up a few days later after randomly being filled in – everyone attempting to hit the jackpot with eight score draws.
In the 1960s a win of £150k was the equivalent of £3.5million these days so not to be sniffed at.
Anyway I'm going to sign up and give it a bash and I'll let you know what bets I place. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who still does the pools and any memories of doing them before the lottery took over.
On Wednesday we should be looking forward to Barcelona vs Napoli and Bayern Munich vs Chelsea, Leeds vs Fulham would have been a cracker in the Championship. Even Brechin vs Annan sounds appealing.
Instead we have virtually nothing – although fair play to Scott who has found an angle on Tampines Rovers in Singapore for his members bet.
Well done to anyone who placed a bet on Tuesday – never mind any winners.
There will be nothing from me today and tomorrow's quiet as well but on Friday Melbourne City look good at Central Coast and I'll have Saturday and Sunday tips from Australia, Turkey and Russia.

I’ve signed up to the classic football pools and there are various options.
The jackpot and top prizes are all about picking score draws but there are other bets you can have.
I don’t think they’ll fix it – the panel should be able to do their own thing.
At the end of the day there are loads of weeks when there aren’t 8 score draws anyway – and there are prizes for people with most points.
3pts for a score draw, 2pts for no score and 1pt for home or away.

Seems absolutely ludicrous to me that football and every other sport is on complete lockdown and then in the deepest darkest depths of Russia, Thailand and Sweden there are 22 blokes having a casual kick about.
Probably see it as if there’s no players or officials tested positive for it then what’s the need to be on lockdown. It will be behind closed doors with a max of about 50 people present including the players.

Really interesting watching/following games the last couple of days. Definitely fixing going on, have made about £200 just by following strange odds paterns. The Kitchee game today and the Paro game yesterday. Hilarious to watch also, teams just stop trying and concede ridiculous penalties on purpose etc. Didn’t post as wanted to be 100% sure but feeling a little more confident in spotting them now so will post when I notice any going on.
Tends to be 0-1 goals in the first half (if there is a first half goal it tends to be late in the half) likewise in the second. Always a really late goal (or two). The odds of a second/third goal aren’t great around 5/4, 13/8 around the 80min mark.
Now you mention it the two games I followed yesterday had the same pattern, put it down to the teams being crap rather than anything under hand.
Most probably fixed old al. Your 2 games plus the 2 games I followed yesterday plus the 2 today is too much of a coincidence. Really worth keeping an eye out for similar games which shouldnt be too tricky given there are so few being played.

Folks,
I have had a decent season on predominantly over 2.5 goals bets, mostly on the Scottish Leagues.
Now that we are in almost lock down to win the important battle against the virus I have a) put my betting bank in cold storage for now and b) started analysing results season to date to see if there is anything I can glean to improve my bets going forwards.
Stay safe everyone, and one of the most important things you can do is to regularly wash your hands and to NOT touch your face.
Good luck if you do bet on matches in leagues few of us have much knowledge and, if you do, please keep stakes to an affordable amount – especially if your income is being effected by the current outbreak.
I’m taking this opportunity to take a break from football betting.
