IT was a March Saturday like no other as the English National League took centre stage.

Greg's Nap won as Notts County triumphed 4-0 but my County/Halifax double was a loser as Ebbsfleet won the teatime TV game.

Well done to all the winners and thanks to everyone who posted tips from around the world.

Also thanks to all those who took the time to comment as we had a lively debate on how football responds to and recovers, particularly when it comes to potentially crowning Liverpool and Celtic champions.

My own opinion is they both deserve to be given titles having carved out big leads over Man City and Rangers respectively.

I accept though it will be difficult to, for example, relegate Hearts who sit at the foot of the Scottish Premiership.

Unfortunately it could be months before decisions are made and we have a decent card to bet on and I'm not willing to risk to much before then.

The focus on Sunday will be on Turkey and Russia with games including Galatasaray vs Besiktas and Rostov vs Lokomotiv Moscow.

I'm just going for a simple double – both to score in the top-of-the-table clash between Trabzonspor and Istanbul who are the two highest-scoring sides in the league and third-placed Galatasaray draw no bet at home to a Besiktas who have been poor on their travels.

Radamel Falcao might be 34 now but the Brazilians still has the goals knack with nine in 13 games. Worth risking 1pt on him scoring first.

1pt Super Single

  • Falcao (Gala) to score first (4pm)
  • (4-1, Unibet)

2pts Daily Double

  • Trabzonspor vs Istanbul btts (1pm)
  • Galatasaray draw no bet (4pm)
  • (6-4, William Hill)

Wellington Phoenix home and hosed this morning so taking a wee bit of the profit and following mr fixits advice and looking to turkey and Russia. Both teams to score in the top 2 battle in trabzon looks good to me as well as a cska win. Not one to go daft on stakes wise for obvious reasons.

There’s also Kazakhstani league action today with Almaty and Astana playing and Tunisian cup action. Top boys esperance are playing in that and should win and score at least a couple. It’s 4/6 for that as a single, if that’s too skinny then I’d combine that with the 2nd best team sfaxien who are at home to win. Takes it to 11/10. I’ll be on that if Adelaide v the jets provides a winner.

    Ukraine championship group
    Zorya v shakhtar o2.5mgs
    Dynamo Kiev win/o1.5mgs
    19/10 ladbrokes (boost)

Shakhtar are miles clear of the rest in this league but will still be looking for the points to seal the title. Been a lot of goals at both ends in their games recently- aside from the 1-0 defeat that blew apart their unbeaten run the same weekend as Liverpool’s, their other recent games have seen a 2-1 a 3-3 a 4-1 and a 4-3. Taking the mgs for this game so I have both sides working for me. In the other match Kiev take on desna. Both sides are in a 4 team mini section of this 6 team group looking to press for the champions league place. Freely admit that I know nothing of the away side and only keep an eye on Kiev at home sporadically, but Kiev are on a decent run of late at home and their only defeat in the league their recently came when they were down to 10 men. I’m taking them to win and net twice in what seems like it could be a hard fought game despite the bookies offering just 2/5 for a home win. Again my advice is not to go mad on stakes.

As someone who stands to lose a fair wedge if the football fixtures aren’t fulfuiled ( Liverpool and cove double , Norwich to be relegated ) I have to say I would have to accept these are voided bets if fixtures aren’t complete , the governing associations (as has been suggested by Neil Lennon on Friday) can’t decide champions ,euro places relegation etc on some cooked up Duckworth lewis method applied to football matches that never occurred . if I was a fan of any club leading a title race I wouldn’t want to be awarded the title on this basis as it would indeed bring SPORTING INTEGRITY into question .

    • jimba 4 years ago

Yeah that’s fine to say but fans of Liverpool, Leeds, Celtic,Barrow etc won’t care as it’s no one’s fault, all I know is it’s a minefield for football 😕

  20. maccathered 4 years ago

If the season is ended null and void then their might not be a league next season and a European Super League could be formed where the top two teams from each European league compete.as the f.a could end up bankrupt from lawsuits, they cannot null and void a season that is almost complete,it’s not even an option for the f.a so why it’s even being talked about is ridiculous.

    • chelseagirl 4 years ago

Mac correct far too many implications.

    • oneoff 4 years ago

      Just sounds good Haha
Can’t see it happening either probably just season last longer and the precise footballer’s get less of a break in between seasons,as there having a break now!

    • jimba 4 years ago

Yeah I agree, someone said season ticket money would have to be refunded I don’t know if that’s true

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

I don’t think anyone knows anything yet – it’s all speculation. We also need to know if this season will be finished or scrapped.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

It could have massive complications for Man Utd as they are on the stock Market shares could fall to an all time low and with the club already 700million in debt it could signal the end of them.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Shares will recover and I’m sure Man United are in a better position than most to survive.

    • newts68 4 years ago

Macca your wrong to call a season bill and void because it can’t be finished is perfectly legal.
The lawsuits would only follow if they was to say the position your are in at present is your final position.
Teams like Villa would get relegated with a game in hand and that’s when tjhe lawsuits would begin.
Let’s hope they get the fixtures over and done with and the season gets finished.
The likes of Leeds and Liverpool wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if the season was called null and void.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Rubbish,i know a Solicitor and he reckons no way will the f.a null and void the league as clubs will claim for everything and they are well within their rights to as no rules were in place,

    • newts68 4 years ago

Macca ah ah claim for everything on the strength of what a virus causing the season to be finished early. How can you hold the Premier League responsible for that.
It will be null and void with no promotion and no relegation. Basically the 2021 season will start as if it was this season. Same teams in Champions league, same teams in Europa.
If the season isn’t completed that is.
And that is highly unlikely with Europa and Champions League games to fit in as well as FA Cup games and the play offs.
The country will be on lock down in 6/8 weeks it will be imposssible to finish the season.

  21. vanya88888888 4 years ago

I hope at least the leagues outside Europe stay open so that there is something to bet on, like Russia, Turkey, Arab countries, Africa and South America. I’ve always used international leagues but I miss European football, the choice is so much narrower. Even what we have left is uncertain.

As a Wolves fan enjoying our adventure in Europe this season , it would be interesting to see what happens with European competition.
For your Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea fans it would just be a shrug of the shoulders if it was scrapped. Us qualifying for a European competition is absolutely huge, for us to be in touching distance of a quarter final place is massive. Not only have we gone on an absolutely fantastic run in Europe and surely one of the top contenders, we’ve maintained absolutely outstanding form in the Premier League and not only are we holding down a Europa League place we are within touching distance of a Champions League place.
People will say calm down, saving peoples lives is more important than football…it is, I don’t dispute that, but for us to be in a situation where we are potentially denied an opportunity to proceed in European competition and then required to qualify again through a different season is shattering.

    • newts68 4 years ago

Craigyboy Wolves will be in Europa next season if the seasons null and void, this season will just start afresh next season. I get what your saying about the champions league and how well your doing in Europa but everyones got a story to tell Leeds and Liverpool more than most its just unfortunate.
What the Prem cant start doing is handing out titles and promotion and champions league places if the season doesnt get finished that would be incrimination and create possible lawsuits

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Null and voiding the league would be a last resort, there aren’t many games left of the season to void it,even if games are played behind closed doors the season will finish. All the footballers will have a set isolation period and once that has passed there is no reason why games can’t be completed. We all know what your wishing for Newts but believe me voiding the season would cause chaos for the f.a.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

We should get a better idea after the UEFA meeting on Tuesday. Options seem to be continue this season in August and get the Euro ties played or end the season now and current positions are the final positions.

    • newts68 4 years ago

Nine games I think on average Macca plus Fa cup ties and champions league, Europa fixtures and play offs.
Playing behind closed doors was feasable until players and staff starting contracting it.

    • newts68 4 years ago

It started in China in January and they reckon it’s just about peaked(still people dying though)
