Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on Portugal and in particular two of ‘The Big Three’ who both look good to collect all three points, which will give us a double that pays just above even money.
Sporting Lisbon vs Tondela
🇵🇹 Liga NOS
⏰ Sunday 28th November, 18:00
Champions Sporting Lisbon host Tondela at the Estádio José Alvalade looking to go top of the table. Sporting are currently in 3rd, two points behind Benfica having played a game less. Tondela meanwhile, are positioned in mid-table in 10th.
Sporting Lisbon will come into this full of confidence after defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League with a game to spare. Sporting are also in good form domestically, winning each of their last six league matches, conceding just one goal. Lisbon are still unbeaten in the league this season, winning nine of their opening 11 matches. Sporting also have the best defence in the league, conceding just four goals all season. All nine of Sporting’s victories in Liga NOS this season have featured fewer than four goals.
After losing their previous two league games, Tondela got back to winning ways last time out as they defeated a struggling Marítimo 4-2. Tondela are the only side in Portugal yet to draw a game this season, winning four and losing seven of their 11 league matches. All four of Tondela’s wins have came against sides below them in the league, with three of them coming at home. Tondela have lost four of their five away games in Liga NOS, conceding nine times. All seven of Tondela’s league defeats this season have seen fewer than five goals.
Porto vs Vitoria Guimarães
🇵🇹 Liga NOS
⏰ Sunday 28th November, 20:30
Come kick off Porto could be in 3rd position but know a win at the Dragão over Vitoria Guimarães will put them in top spot. Porto are currently two points behind Benfica, whereas the visitors lies in 7th, just four points outside the European places.
Porto lost to Liverpool at Anfield midweek to keep their Champions League hopes in the balance, but it’s been a different story domestically. Porto come into this winning each of their last six league matches, scoring 19 goals in the process. Like Sporting, Porto are still unbeaten in Liga NOS, winning nine of their 11 matches. Porto have a 100% record at the Dragão, winning all five of their league matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding just twice.
Vitoria Guimarães come into this in decent form, winning three of their last four league matches. Guimarães have won four times this season, with all four wins coming against sides positioned in the bottom six. 14 of the 16 points Guimarães have gained in Liga NOS this season have came against sides below them. The visitors have already lost both games against Porto’s title rivals, losing 1-3 at home to Benfica and 1-0 at Sporting in their last away game.
Bet of the Day
After securing their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday, Sporting will come into this match full of confidence. They’re still unbeaten in Liga NOS and have won their last six in the league and should defeat a Tondela side who tend to struggle against the leagues better side. All nine of Sporting’s league wins and all seven of Tondela’s defeats have featured fewer than five goals and I’m happy to add in under 4.5 goals along side the win. Porto have been flying in recent weeks domestically, winning each of their last six matches in Liga NOS and know a win will take them back to the top. Porto have a 100% record at home and I’m backing them to edge past a Guimarães side who have collected majority of their points against sides in and around the relegation zone.
