Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve back into the Icelandic top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ KR vs FH
🇮🇸 Besta deild karla
⏰ Sunday 29 June, 20:15
The Icelandic Besta deild karla entertainers KR welcome FH to the KR-vollur on Sunday night in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Oskar Hrafn Thorvaldsson’s hosts are the leading scorers in the Icelandic top flight, firing in an incredible 31 goals across their opening 12 matches, with 16 (52%) of them coming across their five home fixtures.
The record Icelandic champions have found the back of the net in 12 (100%) of their league outings this season, notching 2+ goals in 11 (92%) of them – including in all five on home soil (3-3, 5-0, 4-1, 2-3 & 2-1) – and will be confident of breaching a FH defence that has yet to record a clean sheet on their travels this season, shipping multiple goals in 5/7 (71%) of them.
Heimir Gudjonsson’s visitors have scored 17 goals across their opening 12 league outings this campaign, with eight (47%) of them coming on their travels.
The Hafnarfjordur-based club have failed to score in just three of their 12 matches in the Icelandic top flight this term – striking on multiple occasions in six (50%) of them – and will look to trouble a KR defence that’s kept just one clean sheet and shipped 2+ goals in 9/12 (75%) of their league clashes this season.
Bet of the Day
KR delivered for us on the goals front once again on Monday night, as they were thrashed 6-1 away at rivals Valur, and there’s no need to change my approach as they host FH on Sunday night
That now means the record Icelandic champions’ opening 12 matches in the Icelandic top flight this season have averaged a staggering 5.25 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals landing in a remarkable 11 (92%) of them, whilst 11 (92%) have also seen goals at both ends.
FH’s numbers aren’t quite as high as their hosts, but their seven road trips this term have still averaged 3.14 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in five (71%) of them, whilst three of their last five have seen a minimum of four goals.
What’s more, these two sides already played out a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture this season, and another high-scoring encounter is on the cards in the Icelandic capital on Sunday evening.
