Football Bet of the Day: Head to France for Goals at Both Ends on Sunday

Following yesterday’s disappointment in Germany, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to France, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Two clubs who have made impressive starts to the Ligue 1 season meet at the Stade de la Beaujoire as 7th-placed Nantes play host to 5th-placed Reims in a fixture that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Pierre Aristouy’s hosts have scored 16 goals across their opening 10 Ligue 1 matches this term, with 12 (75%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The Canaries have found the back of the net in all five of their Ligue 1 tussles on home soil – scoring on multiple occasions in three of their previous four – and they will look to breach a Reims defence whose only three clean sheets in the league this campaign have all come at home against Lorient (15th), Clermont (17th) and Lyon (18th).

Like their hosts, Reims have scored 16 goals across their opening 10 matches in Ligue 1 this campaign, with nine (56%) of them coming on their travels. Will Still’s visitors are one of only two sides in the division to have found the back of the net in all of their Ligue 1 contests this season – scoring on multiple occasions in five (50%) of them – and they will look to continue their record of finding the back of the net against a Nantes defence that’s registered just two clean sheets and conceded 19 goals in the league this season.

Nantes’ opening 10 Ligue 1 fixtures this season are averaging a healthy 3.50 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score clicking in six (60%) of them, including 4/5 (80%) on home soil – and given both have obliged in 7/10 (70%) of Reims’ Ligue 1 outings this campaign, including in all five on the road – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these sides to find the target on Sunday afternoon.
