Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me backing a home team on Holland who should be too strong for their opponents and a goals selection in Italy to give us a nice odds against double.
Feyenoord vs Fortuna Sittard
🇳🇱 Eredivisie
⏰ Sunday 5th December, 15:45
Two sides at opposite ends of the Eredivisie table meet at De Kuip as Feyenoord host Fortuna Sittard. Feyenoord are now upto second and can close the gap to Ajax to a point with victory here. The visitors on the other hand are in the relegation zone and are three points from automatic safety.
Feyenoord defeated Heracles 2-1 midweek to leapfrog PSV into second and also bring up my double. Feyenoord come into this unbeaten in their last seven Eredivisie matches, winning five of their last six. Feyenoord have been near perfect at De Kuip this season, winning six of their seven matches and are still unbeaten. Feyenoord have a great record against bottom half sides this season, winning six out of seven, scoring on 21 occasions.
Fortuna Sittard suffered yet another defeat last out as they were defeated 2-1 by AZ Alkmaar midweek. That’s now five defeats on the points for Fortuna, in which they’ve conceded 17 goals. Fortuna are one of four sides still winless away from home in the Eredivisie, losing five of their seven matches. Fortuna Sittard have the leakiest defence into the Eredivisie, conceding 34 goals in just 14 matches
Sampdoria vs Lazio
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Sunday 5th December, 17:00
Goals are expected at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris as Sampdoria play host to Lazio. The hosts come into this weekend in 15th, five points above city rivals Genoa who are in the relegation zone. Lazio are 9th, but are only three points off city rivals Roma in 5th.
Despite taking the lead, Sampdoria were defeated 3-1 by Fiorentina last time out to put an end to their two match winning run. Conceding goals has been an issue for Roberto D’Aversa’s men all season long, with them possessing the third leakiest defence in Serie A, conceding 29 goals. Sampdoria are capable of scoring though, particularly at home where they’ve scored 12 goals in their eight games, only failing to score against the top two. 12 of Sampdoria’s 15 Serie A games have saw over 2.5 goals, including each of their last seven at home.
Lazio conceded four goals for the second game running as they drew 4-4 with Udinese midweek in a game that had almost everything. Maurizio Sarri’s men have struggled defensively this season, particularly on the road where they’ve conceded 17 goals in their seven matches. Lazio do score goals however and only the top four sides in Serie A have out scored them, with them scoring on 29 occasions. 11 of Lazio’s 15 matches have saw over 2.5 goals this season, including each of their last four away.
Bet of the Day
Feyenoord are on a great run of form and know if they collect all three points they’ll go within one point of leaders Ajax. They come up against the perfect opposition in the form of Fortuna Sittard who have lost each of their last five league games conceding 17 goals. Feyenoord are unbeaten at home, winning 6/7 and I’m backing them to secure a comfortable victory against a side winless on the road and have the leakiest defence in the whole division. Both Sampdoria and Lazio’s matches have been full of goals this season and there’s no reason not to expect goals at the Marassi here. Both side have conceded the third amount of goals in Serie A this season but are more than capable of scoring. I’m fully expecting goals here with both sides contributing and we should at least three goals in the match.
