Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Portuguese Liga NOS and there’s one game that sticks out to me which has the potential for goals.

Vitória Guimarães vs Boavista

🇵🇹 Liga NOS

⏰ Wednesday 29th December, 19:00

Vitória Guimarães will look to move into the Conference League places as they play host to Boavista at the Estádio Dom Alfonso Henriques. The hosts come into this in 8th, just three points off Estoril in 5th, while the visitors come into this in 10th, there points clear of the relegation playoff spot.

Vitória Guimarães saw their two match winning run come to an end last time out as they lost 1-0 away to Santa Clara. Guimarães will be glad to be playing at home once again, with Os Vimaranenses winning each of their last three at home, finding the back of the net on nine occasions. Guimarães are one of the most prolific sides at home in Liga NOS, with only Benfica, Porto and Braga scoring more than their tally of 14. Pepa’s side have struggled for clean sheets in recent months however, and after conceding just once in their opening five matches, Guimarães have went on to concede in each of their next 10, conceding on 15 occasions.

Boavista grabbed a vital victory against fellow relegation rivals Moreirense last time out, as they won 1-0 on home turf. That was only Boavista’s third win in the league this season and their first since the end of August, a run of 11 matches. Boavista have struggled on their travels so far this season, especially defensively, with Petit’s side conceding 17 goals in just seven matches, the worst in the division. They are also yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels, conceding on two or more occasions in six of those matches. Despite their defensive struggles away from home, Boavista have found the back of the net in five of their last six on the road, only failing to score against the side with the best defensive record in Portugal, champions Sporting CP.

Bet of the Day

Both sides will come into this fixture with a bit of confidence, with Guimarães winning their last three on home turf and Boavista gaining their first league win in 11. With Guimarães scoring 14 times in their seven home games and Boavista only failing to score three times all season, there’s every chance we’ll see both sides score, especially with both sides struggling for clean sheets. 71% of both sides respective home and away matches have broken the three goal barrier and given both sides records at both ends of the park, there’s every chance we’ll see at least three strikes here.
