Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me travel to Asia and there’s one fixture in the Korean top-flight that appeals to me for goals.
Suwon FC vs Gangwon FC
🇰🇷 K League 1
⏰ Saturday 16th July, 11:00
Two of the most in-form sides in the K League 1 meet at the Suwon Sports Complex, as sixth-placed Suwon FC play host to the side four points and two places below them in the table, Gangwon FC.
Suwon scored a dramatic 94th-minute winner last time out, as they were on the right end of a seven-goal thriller at home to FC Seoul. Kim Do-kyun’s side have now won taken 16 points from the last 18 available, taking maximum points from each of their last three in front of their own supporters. Only reigning champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have stopped Suwon from scoring at home this season, with the Suwon Dashers having scored 23 goals in their other nine home fixtures. Suwon have recorded just one clean sheet at home this season and only Seongnam (23) have conceded more goals as hosts than Suwon (21) in the Korean top-flight.
After their late defeat away to league leaders Ulsan Hyundai, Gangwon got back to winning ways last time out, as they defeated Gimcheon Sangmu 3-2 at home. Choi Yong-Soo’s side have now won three of their last four league matches, with one of those victories being their first away win of the season. The Gangwon Kodiaks have found the back of the net in 14 of their last 16 K League 1 fixtures, including in each of their last seven. Gangwon have recorded just one clean sheet in their last nine on their travels, conceding 18 goals in that run.
Bet of the Day
Suwon FC come into this match winning five of their last six league fixtures, whilst Gangwon FC have won three of their last four and I’m expecting goals between the pair when they square-off at the Suwon Sports Complex on Saturday morning. No side in K League 1 have scored more goals at home than Suwon (23) and they should increase that tally against a Gangwon side that has the worst defensive record away from home in the division, conceding 18 times in 10 matches. Choi Yong-Soo’s visitors have found the back of the net in 14 of their last 16 league matches, including in each of their last seven and I expect them also to get on the scoresheet against a Suwon defence that’s recorded just one clean sheet at home all season. With neither side tight at the back coupled up with the goal-scoring form they are in, I think we’ll see at least three goals here with both sides contributing in what should be an open encounter.
