Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the Dutch second tier and the Belgian Pro League and I’ve picked two sides who should be too strong for their struggling opponents.

Roda JC vs Jong Utrecht

🇳🇱 Eerste Divisie

⏰ Friday 1st April, 19:00

Roda will look to strengthen their position inside the playoff places, as they host lowly Jong Utrecht at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion. The hosts come into this in seventh position, whilst the hosts are above only Helmond Sport in the Eerste Divisie table.

Roda saw their three-match winning run come to an end last time out, as they drew a six-goal thriller away at Jong PSV. Jurgen Streppel’s men have been strong at home all season, losing just one of their last 13 at home and that defeat came against league leaders Emmen. As well as being unbeaten in their last eight at home, the Kerkrade club have won five of their last six, only drawing with second-placed Volendam on that run. Roda are the fifth-highest scorers in the Dutch second tier this season, finding the back of the net 63 times, with 16 of those goals coming in their last six at home.

Jong Utrecht’s losing run was extended to five last time out, as they lost 0-1 at home to mid-table Jong AZ. After collecting 15 points from their opening eight matches this season, Darije Kalezic’s side have managed to collect just 13 points from their next 23 fixtures. Jong Utrecht have struggled on their travels in the last couple of months, losing four of their last five away from home, conceding 12 goals. Jong Utrecht have mustered just four clean sheets from their opening 31 matches this season and have the fourth-worst defensive record in the division, conceding on 57 occasions.

Beerschot vs Club Brugge

🇧🇪 Pro League

⏰ Friday 1st April, 19:45

Club Brugge will look to close the gap on top of the table Union Saint-Gilloise on Friday evening, as they travel to the Olympisch Stadion to take on bottom side Beerschot. The hosts are already relegated, whilst the visitors are just five points behind the league leaders.

Despite equalising twice, Beerschot’s losing run was extended to six matches last time out, as they lost 3-2 away to Sint-Truiden. The Purple White Army have had a horror season, collecting just 16 points from their opening 32 fixtures (W4-D4-L24) and come into this losing 14 of their last 17 matches. Beerschot have recorded just three clean sheets all season (the lowest in the division) and have the worst defensive record, conceding 68 times.

Club Brugge extended their winning run to six in the league last time out, as they defeated Genk 3-1 in the Belgian capital. Alfred Schreuder’s side have also been in good form on their travels in recent months, winning six of their last eight away from home, including each of their last four. Club Brugge have found the back of the net in all bar two of their 32 fixtures in the Pro League this campaign and only league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise (70) have scored more than the 67 the Blauw-Zwart have scored so far this campaign.

Bet of the Day

Roda have been in good form recently, particularly at home and they should be too strong for a struggling Jong Utrecht side. As well as taking 10 points from the last 12 available, Jurgen Streppel’s hosts have lost just one of their last 13 in Kerkrade, winning five of their last six and should be too strong for a Jong Utrecht side that’s lost 10 of their last 12 in the league, as well as each of their last five. Roda have scored 16 goals in their last six at home and given the visitors have conceded 12 in their last five away, I’m happy to add in the hosts to score at least twice alongside the home win.
Club Brugge are closing in on league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise after winning each of their last six and should collect another three points away to already-relegated Beerschot who’ve lost 14 of their last 17, including each of their last six. The reigning champions have scored 20 goals in that six-match winning run and should net at least twice in securing victory against the divisions leakiest defence.
