Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Italian Serie A and there’s a match that I reckon has the potential for goals.

Fiorentina vs Lazio

🇮🇹 Serie A

⏰ Saturday 5th February, 19:45

Two of Serie A’s most entertaining sides go toe to toe at the Artemio Franchi, as Fiorentina play host to Lazio. Both of these sides are tied on 36 points, with Fiorentina sitting a place above in seventh on goal difference.

Despite going a goal and a man down, Fiorentina managed to leave Sardinia with a point last time out, meaning La Viola have lost just one of their last eight in Serie A. At the Artemio Franchi, Fiorentina have won five of their last six, with only Napoli and Inter leaving Florence with all three points. Fiorentina have scored in all 10 of their home fixtures, finding the back of the net on 29 occasions, the joint-highest in the league. Vincenzo Italiano’s side have only managed five clean sheets in Serie A this season, with all five of them coming against sides currently positioned in 14th and below.

Lazio played out a drab 0-0 with Covid-hit Atalanta last time out, but a 2-1 defeat away to league-leaders Inter represents their only loss in their last six in Serie A. Only the two Milan clubs have managed to outscore Lazio this season, with the Biancocelesti finding the back of the net 46 times in their opening 23 matches. Lazio have struggled to keep clean sheets this season, keeping just four in Serie A, with half of those coming against bottom side Salernitana. Maurizio Sarri’s side have already conceded 39 goals this season, the highest number of any side currently positioned in the top half of the table.

Bet of the Day

These two sides have been an entertaining watch for neutrals this season, with both coaches opting for an attacking style of play and I’m expecting the same here in Florence. La Viola have scored 29 goals at home this season, whilst the Biancocelesti are only outscored by the two Milan clubs. Whilst both sides score plenty of goals, they struggle to keep goals out at the other end, registering just nine clean sheets between them this season. Given both sides rarely fail to score and their inability to keep clean sheets, I can’t see both sides not scoring here and that should lead to over 2.5 goals in what should be a goal-filled encounter.
