Football Bet of the Day: Cerezo to Continue Their Hot Streak On Friday Morning

Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the fixture in the Japanese top flight, and I like the look of the hosts to heap more misery on their struggling opponents.

Two clubs in contrasting form in the J1 League meet at the Yodoko Sakura Stadium on Friday morning as 4th-placed Cerezo Osaka play host to 12th-placed Avispa Fukuoka.

Cerezo Osaka moved within three points of 3rd-placed Nagoya Grampus last Saturday, as they recorded an impressive 1-4 victory away at the division’s entertainers, Consadole Sapporo. After winning just two of their opening seven J1 League fixtures (W2-D2-L3), Akio Kogiku’s men have gone on to win eight of their next 11 (W8-D0-L3), including five of their last six.

Avispa Fukuoka made an encouraging start to their J1 League campaign, as they collected 14 points from their opening seven matches (W4-D2-L1). However, Shigetoshi Hasebe’s side have gone on to register just six points from the next 33 available (W1-D3-L7), with their 0-3 defeat at home to 2nd-placed Vissel Kobe last weekend extending their losing streak in the Japanese top-flight to four matches.

Cerezo Osaka are the fourth-highest scorers in the Japanese top flight this term, scoring 27 goals across their opening 18 matches, with 13 of those coming at home. The Cherry Blossoms have found the back of the net in 15/18 (83%) of their J1 League fixtures this season – scoring on multiple occasions in 6/9 (67%) as hosts – and I’m backing them to bag another double at home to an Avispa Fukuoka defence that has shipped two or more goals in eight of their previous 11 J1 League outings, including in each of their last five away from home.
