Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on matchday 4 of the Champions League. I’ve picked a couple of selections from which I like the look of to give us a nice odds against double.
Malmö vs Chelsea
🇪🇺 Champions League
⏰ Tuesday 2nd November, 17:45
European champions Chelsea travel to Sweden to take on Malmö at the Eleda Stadion. The blues are currently 2nd in the group, three points behind Juventus. The hosts are still pointless and sit bottom of Group H.
Swedish champions Malmö done well to make the Champions League, having to go through four qualifiers to reach the group stages, but have so far been the whipping boys in Group H. They began with a 0-3 defeat to Juventus in their own stadium, before back to back 4-0 defeats away to both Zenit and their upcoming opponents Chelsea. Despite conceding 11 goals in their three previous group games, all three of their defeats featured less than five goals, with Malmö yet to score a single goal.
Chelsea bounced back from defeat on matchday 2 in Turin by defeating Malmö 4-0 at Stamford Bridge to take them onto six points. Chelsea have been in fine form domestically, winning their last four games and are now three points clear at the top. In their 13 Premier League and Champions League matches, Chelsea have conceded four goals, with that 7-0 win over hapless Norwich City being the only time Chelsea have won a game this season that featured more than five goals.
Atalanta vs Manchester United
🇪🇺 Champions League
⏰ Tuesday 2nd October, 20:00
Manchester United travel to Bergamo to take on Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. The Red Devils currently sit top of Group F, and are two points clear of both Villarreal and opponents Atalanta.
Atalanta were set to go four points clear of Man United in Group F as they raced into a two goal lead at Old Trafford. However, they subsequently went on to lose 3-2 and they now sit in 3rd spot. Atalanta have scored in each of their last 12 fixtures, including in all three of their Champions matches so far. Clean sheets have been hard to come by though for Atalanta, keeping only three all season, as well as conceding in each of their last six matches.
Man United recovered from their humiliating 0-5 defeat at the hands of old rivals Liverpool by defeating Spurs 0-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday. That now means United have scored 25 times this season, with six of those goals coming in Europe. The Red Devils rarely fail to score, with them scoring in 11/13 league and European matches this season, including in all three Champions League matches. That clean sheet at the weekend was only their second this season, failing to keep one in Europe.
Bet of the Day
Chelsea travel to Sweden as huge favourites and it’s no real surprise. The European Champions have been in great form recently and extended their lead at the top of the Premier League at the weekend to three points. Malmö have struggled in the group stages so far and have been comfortably beaten in all three of their matches. They’re yet to score yet and with Chelsea having such an impressive defensive record, I don’t see them causing the Blues many problems. 9/10 of Chelsea’s wins have featured less than five goals this season, therefore I’m happy to back this outcome once more. Atalanta have proven to be one of Europe’s entertainers the last few years and thus seasons been no different. Man United have scored plenty themselves this season but only recorded their second clean sheet of the season at the weekend. The previous meeting finished 3-2 and goals are the way to go again here, both sides should net at least once here.
