Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in Scandinavia and there’s one fixture in the Norwegian Eliteserien that appeals to me for goals.
Tromsø vs Sandefjord
🇳🇴 Eliteserien
⏰ Saturday 30th July, 17:00
Away-day specialists Sandefjord make the trip to Northern Norway on Saturday afternoon, as they take on 14th-placed Tromsø at the Alfheim Stadion.
Tromsø followed up their 5-1 drubbing at title-favourites Molde by being comfortably beaten 3-0 at Rosenborg last Saturday. Tromsø have only lost one of their opening six matches on home turf this season (W2-D3-L1), with Gaute Helstrup’s side currently on a four-match unbeaten run at home, drawing each of their last three. The Boys have found the back of the net in 14/16 of their Eliteserien fixtures this season – including all six at home – scoring on 16 occasions, with nine of those coming when playing as hosts. Tromsø have recorded just a solitary clean sheet in the Norwegian top-flight this season, conceding on 26 occasions.
Sandefjord secured their second win from their last three matches in their last league outing, as they defeated bottom-side Kristiansund 2-0 on Wednesday evening. The Whalers won 1-2 at Jerv in their last away fixture, meaning they’ve now been victorious in three of their last four matches on the road. Only the top-three sides in the Eliteserien and 11th-placed Sarpsborg have scored more goals than the 27 Sandefjord have tallied this season, with 16 of those coming when playing away from home. Only the bottom-two have conceded more goals in the Norwegian top-flight than Sandefjord, with head coaches Hans Erik Ødegaard and Andreas Tegström having saw their side let in 30 goals in their opening 15 league matches.
Bet of the Day
Only table-toppers Molde have collected more points on their travels than Sandefjord in the Eliteserien, but they travel to the Alfheim Stadion to take on a Tromsø side that’s lost just once at home this season and who are unbeaten in their last four as hosts. Gaute Helstrup’s side have found the back of the net in 14/16 of their league matches this season, including in all six at home and they’ll be confident of breaching a Sandefjord defence that’s only conceded fewer goals than the bottom-two in the Eliteserien table. Sandefjord have scored 16 goals in their eight road-trips this season and they too will be confident of adding to that tally against a Tromsø defence that registered just one clean sheet in the league all season. Over 2.5 goals has landed in 13/16 of Sandefjord league fixtures this season and I reckon the same will land in Northern Norway tomorrow afternoon with both sides contributing.
