AND so ends another busy midweek – with some winners and some losers and some near misses.
We finish off this week with two games in Italy, Lazio v Cesena in Serie A and Siena v Napoli in Coppa Italia.
The Lazio game has been brought forward from the weekend to accommodate the rugby and the home side will be looking to bounce back from last week's 3-2 defeat at Genoa.
Lazio were 3-0 down before nearly pulling it back and are 1-2 at BetVictor to pick up the points against lowly Cesena.
Edy Reja’s men will be without banned Mobido Diakite and others including Tommaso Rochi and Stefano Mauri are injured.
It might not be as easy as the prices suggest as Cesena have brought in the likes of Vincenzo Iaquinta, Mario Alberto Santana, Daniel Pudil, Vangelis Moras and Simone Del Nero in the transfer window.
On-loan Juve striker Iaquinta and borrowed Napoli winger Santana will add to the firepower of the lowest scorers in Serie A and I'm taking a big chance on the draw.
Cesena held Napoli 0-0 away at the week so a stalemate at 10-3 with Ladbrokes could be worth a shout. To win you can have Cesena at 15-2 with BetVictor and boylesports.
It has the feel of an unders game and under 2.5 goals pays 5-6 at bet365.
There could also be a draw in the semi-final 1st leg of the Italian Cup clash between Siena and Napoli.
Napoli are 11-8 with the likes of Paddy Power and Betfred and that reflects the fact Siena usually make it tough for their visitors from Naples.
Napoli didn't win in Siena for more than 10 years while the last two Serie A meetings also finished all square.
The draw pays a best 23-10 at bet365 who offer the same price on Siena. Again it could under with under 2.5 goals paying 8-11 at Betfred.
I'm sure Napoli will be happy to start the second leg all square and qualify for the Final with a home win. To make it through theyare 1-3 at bet365.
Last night Ladbrokes refunded all losing first scorer bets on the Hearts v Celtic game because Gary Hooper netted at any time. Their offer is repeated on the Siena v Napoli clash with Edison Cavani being the man in question this time.
The South American start is 4-1 favourite to score first virtually across the board.
Recommendation
Under 2.5 goals at Lazio
(5-6, Betfred)
Hiya fixit, just been looking and west ham are 1/1 to win the league and southampton are 9/2, soton just got 2 important draws against closing top sides whereas hammers drew against lowly ipswich and a hard fought win against millwall. Looks like good value to me what do you think?
George, I haven’t been impressed with either at the moment. Best teams in league currently are Birmingham and Blackpool and I’d look at them as a decent each-way bets. Long way to go and Southampton have to win me over again after blowing their big lead. Hammers under Sam Allardyce should be there or thereabouts but that 5-1 defeat at Ipswich was a shocker.
fixit, when are you putting up your both team to score thoughts for the weekend. had a look myself looks quite difficult coupon this weekend.
Michael, I’ve picked my shortlists for Scotland and England. Will check team news tomorrow before posting them but probably be up late afternoon. Man Utd v Liverpool stands out right away but will probably leave it off due to early kick-off.
Paul,i think Hills 100/30 East Stirling away to Clyde is a stand out
Shire unbeaten in last 3 and lost a late equaliser to Stranraer last week, whereas Clyde have lost their last 4 and not scored a goal in their last 3 games
Robert, Shire have improved but remember Clyde beat them 7-1 earlier in the season.
Paul what are your thoughts on my both teams to score 4-fold
Blackburn v qpr ( Blackburn best team in England at the min for both teams to score
Ipswich v boro. ( Ipswich score for fun and concede. )
Yeovil v Scunthorpe ( my banker for weekend )
Wimbledon v bradford both teams have had 5/6 both teams score in each of their last 6 games.
Reece, I wouldn’t rule out any of them to be honest. I’ve already picked my selections in my head and amazingly two of them are Yeovil and Wimbledon. Blackburn beat me a couple of weeks ago when they failed to score against Newcastle but did miss a penalty. Ipswich should score at least one against Boro but the visitors could be jaded after 120 mins against Sunderland last night.
Mr Fixit why not put weekly prem league dart tips for thursdays?
hi psul what do you think of my both teams to score and accumulator.
both teams to score: accumulator
blackburn v qpr BIRMINGHAM
sunderland v arsenal
hartlepool v bourmouth
bristol rovers v morecombe
yeovil v scunthorpe
wimbledon v bradford
George, again I wouldn’t put you off the btts selections. Most of them are on my shortlist. I’m not touching Sunderland because of their midweek exertions but to be fair Arsenal usually concede.
SORRY
ACCUMULATOR
BIRMINGHAM
STEVENAGE
CHELTENHAM
SHEFF UNITED
CRAWLEY
George, Stevenage, Sheff Utd and Crawley are just about banker material. Cheltenham need to show willingness and energy to bounce back from midweek defeat at Crawley. My only concern would be about Birmingham who looked a bit jaded as they struggled past Portsmouth in midweek They have only won four away from home and haven’t beaten Barnsley in their last three attempts.
George, already 10 games off in England including ones at Stevenage and Wimbledon.
