IT'S David v Goliath in the FA Cup tonight and if the giants are slayed it will be the end for Louis van Gaal.

The Man United boss is on his way out anyway and for many the last straw was an abysmal 2-2 defeat at Midtjylland in the Europa League four days ago.

At least the Reds have a second chance to put that right but first of all League One strugglers Shrewsbury have to be negotiated at New Meadow tonight.

A few seasons ago United would have been priced about 1-5 or 1-6 for this trip but such is their form you can have 2-5 with the likes of bet365 and Paddy Power.

And while some will have doubts about United, who are without 14 players including David de Gea and Wayne Rooney, the difference in class should come to the fore. The only new absentee is Scots kid Donald Love who is cup-tied.

Van Gaal is undefeated in his four away FA Cup outings, winning three, and his side have lost just one of their last 45 ties to lower-league opponents. But defeats in Denmark at Sunderland obviously cast some doubts.

Micky Mellon’s Shrews have lost four of their last seven League One matches and are without a win at home since October.

So I'm going to have to side with United but where's the value? If you can't bring yourself to take 2-5 what about under 2.5 match goals at 21-20 with bet365 and Coral as van Gaal's side are hardly prolific in front of goal.

A 1-0 or 2-0 United win is possible so consider United to win to nil at 6-5 with Betway or -1 at 21-20 with Stan James.

I expect United to be a stronger side than they did in Denmark and if Anthony Martial starts take him to score at 4-3 with 888sport. His pace and power could terrify the minnows.

If you prefer to side with Shrewsbury – and many will – they are a best 9-1 at bet365 and McBookie while a draw pays 7-4 with the same firm. Not to lose the Shrews are 1-5 at McBookie and Coral and just to score you can have evens at Coral.

To find your winning bet in this game, I don’t think you have to look much further than Ian Black to be shown a card at 11/10

    mr fixer.
you suggest man utd -1 and under 2.5 match goals so its 0-2 correct score then ?

I see these as 2 evenly matched teams , utd have just lost at sunderland for the 1st time in the premiership era, then lost to the hans Christian Anderson select 11.
    tough call……

Still think Shrewsbury to score is a good bet. Like Kelly says though, you just don’t know which United will turn up. Wouldn’t be confident in backing us -1 if I’m honest but I won’t complain it that is the outcome.

joking aside hills go betting group of 1-0 2-0 2-1 to united at 6-4 which will cover the shrewsbury goal, but will united score 3 and scupper it.
      what team will play ?
they got midgetland on Thursday then the gooners at the weekend, depends what van ghoul sees as the priority ?

His priority is his job albeit one he’s not very good at. All three games are vital. He won’t go if we lose tomorrow though. I reckon they’ll do exactly what they did with Moyes. As soon as Champions League is out the window, goodbye Mr Van Gaal, Giggs takes over for the remainder of the season if any games are left.

Mr F you say you expect us to start a much stronger side than in Denmark but that was basically our strongest available at the time. If Borthwick-Jackson is fit he’ll start at LB with Love RB, and Blind shift back into the middle. Can’t get much stronger other than that. Schneiderlin didn’t start in Denmark so we could see him considering Herrera had a shocker.

Jordan, fair enough – and Donald Love is cup-tied.
I know it’s a banana skin and with those 13 or 14 players missing United could struggle but Shrewsbury – come on they’ve got to beat them.

wolfy1971, I know that – sometimes what you want to write and what you actually type is different especially when you do it at late at night. All sorted – I’ll probably always call their ground Gay Meadow though. Much better ring to it.

Lol,I will let you off this time Mr f,well I come from Shrewsbury and I can tell you now your man united -1 is an absolute nailed on bet,the town are hopeless at home this year,if United play worse than they did in Denmark they will still win by at least 2 goals,I like the look of Man united to win both halves.

You know things are bad when you walk past a freds with shrewsbury to win and btts in the window and you actually feel tempted even being a united ‘fan’ hard to call myself that at moment as im not a fan of the way we play they dont deserve the fans respect. Really dont know what to think on this game so waiting for lineups. Am looking at team corners to be honest. Goals and results usually blow upnon ya face involving utd

    Shrewsbury Town Vs Manchester United
I personally don’t give the league one side a hope. They are pretty useless I think conceding over 50 goals this season just in the league against poorer opposition..
Only one winner for me tonight and if Martial plays ill be on him.
Think Smalling to pinch one too.
Man Utd – First Half\ Second Half 11\8 WH
    Martial ATGS 19\20 WH
    Smalling ATGS 17/2
My only bet today as it looks like a minefield so Gl all.with your bets.
