Expert football pools betting tips

Domestic football is back after the final international break of the season and the race to the end of the campaign is now well and truly on.

It's a slightly unusual fixture list this week in England with no top-flight matches taking place due to the FA Cup quarter-finals. However, there is still plenty of action in the EFL with just one team outside of the Premier League, Preston, still participating in the cup.

With a healthy fixture list to pick from, picking out score draws to accumulate the most points from the football pools scoring system outlined below can be a bit overwhelming:

  • Score draw: 3 points
  • No-score draw (0-0): 2 points
  • Home or away win: 1 point

However, you don't need to as we've picked out the best five football pools betting tips for the weekend.

Our expert football pools betting tips

Fulham vs Crystal Palace (FA Cup)

Our one and only pools tips from the FA Cup this weekend is the clash between Fulham and Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. A London derby for the right to play a match at Wembley is a mouthwatering prospect and a tense affair is expected.

Neither side would turn their noses up at going to extra time which should make this a cagey match. What's more, three of the last five matches between these two teams have finished level as have two of the last three clashes at Craven Cottage.

Hull City vs Luton Town (Championship)

It's a huge match in the battle to beat the drop at the Championship with Luton Town is desperate need of points to avoid the dreaded back-to-back relegations. This is a clash that does have a draw written all over it, though, mainly due to how Hull City will set up.

At the moment, the Tigers have a six-point lead over Luton Town and a three-point lead over Derby County in 22nd. They know that a draw keeps them out of the relegation zone for another week while a loss would not only drag Luton right back into it but also give Derby the chance to move level with them.

Draws have been common in recent times for the Yorkshire club, too, with two of their last three matches finishing without a winner.

Norwich vs West Brom (Championship)

Norwich vs West Brom is a match between two teams that have drawn far too many games this season. In fact, too many draws are the reason why West Brom aren't in the thick of the automatic promotion battle and also the reason why Norwich aren't in the playoff race.

Together, they have combined for 31 draws in the Championship this season. Four of West Brom's last six matches have finished level as have three of Norwich's last six. Additionally, three of the last six matches between these two clubs have finished without a winner.

Reading vs Peterborough (League One)

Our football pools pick from League One this week is Reading vs Peterborough. The hosts have drawn a total of eleven league matches this season and six of those have come in their last nine matches. Peterborough, meanwhile, have drawn nine games in League One but two of those have come in their last four.

What's more, they have both faced off in some very close matches in recent times. Two of the last four meetings between the two clubs have finished in draws and the two victories in that period were only by a solitary goal.

Crewe Alexandra vs Port Vale (League Two)

Our final football pools tip is Crewe vs Port Vale in League Two. No side in the fourth tier of English football has drawn more matches than Crewe this season (16) and three of those have come in their three most recent matches.

Port Vale are no strangers to draws, either, with 13 to their name so far this season. Interestingly, more than half of those draws have come away from home.
