IT'S the first round of matches from this season's Europa League group stages with 24 matches to try to dissect (12 at 5.55pm and another 12 matches at 8pm).

Having had a good look through the games it was quite easy to eliminate a good percentage of them and it's the UK sides I'm sticking with to deliver goals.

Arsenal travel To Eintracht Frankfurt and Celtic face a tough trip to Rennes  – all 4 sides are more than capable of getting on the scoresheet and that bodes well for goals.

Frankfurt vs Arsenal (5.55pm)

You have to go back 17 matches to 2006 to find the last time Frankfurt lost at home in Europe. The German side are a force to be reckoned with at the Commerzbank Arena and they'll fancy their chances of getting off to a winning start against an Arsenal side who look far from sold defensively.

Frankfurt last's 5 games have all seen over 2.5 goals land and with them scoring in 28 of their last 32 home matches they should keep up that goal scoring form.

Arsenal look a much better prospect this season, they've scored in all 5 games  and have an abundance of attacking options but defensively they need to sort themselves out  – they've conceded 8 goals including Sunday's second-half collapse at Watford – taking goals here with both sides contributing.

Rennes vs Celtic (5.55pm)

This is a really tough test for Neil Lennon's Celtic side – Rennes have already defeated PSG here 3-1 a few weeks ago and don't lose many at home (just ask Arsenal fans).

We all know Celtic struggle on the road in Europe but they have plenty of attacking threats and are more than capable of scoring in France – if they do we should see at least 2 match goals especially with 10 of Rennes' last 11 in the Europa league having seen 2 or more goals.

Recommended Bet

  • Frankfurt vs Arsenal over 2.5 goals
  • Rennes vs Celtic over 1.5 goals

Alternative Goal Bets

With so many unknowns in tonight's games it's worth having a punt on some goals accumulators (first-half goals over 1.5 goals etc) across the 24 matches.

One market I've enjoyed huge success with this season is the goal in both halves market – really good for games where goals are expected but the over 2.5 price is short.

I've picked out some games for tonight:

  • Frankfurt
  • Roma
  • Man U
  • Rennes
