PICKING a winner of the CONCACAF Gold Cup isn't easy – but it's just like the SPL or La Liga.

Basically it's a two-horse race between holders Mexico and hosts USA who have won all but one of the last 10 tournaments.

Bookies expect that trend to continue when the tournament gets under way on Sunday.

Defending champions Mexico are Paddy Power’s 6-4 favourites while USA are 13-8 at bet365.

The Hearts of this event are Honduras who are a distant third favourite at 9-1.

I'm going with home advantage to win it for the US even if Mexico will hope for a big show from Man United’s Mexican star Javier Hernandez.

Mexico and USA are short-priced favourites at 1-5 and 1-4 respectively to top their pools but Honduras are backable at 1-2 with bet365 to top Group B.

Costa Rica look a banker at 1-2 with William Hill to beat Cuba in Sunday's opener.

Recommendations

  • USA to win Gold Cup (13-8, bet365)
  • Honduras to win Group B (1-2, bet365)
