IT'S been a couple of quiet days and I've been quite thankful for that but there's no rest for the wicked in England as Boxing Days heralds the start of a hectic festive schedule.
I've had a good look at the card and this is my Super single shortlist having looked only at form and stats but not team news – that will come later.
My Super Single record is seven wins out of the last eight after both to score at Cowdenbeath-Hearts let me down on Tuesday and it would be good to get back on track with another success.
In the Premier League I expect Liverpool to win at Burnley at just under evens and Spurs look an even better bet at over evens at Leicester. Sunderland are another side that's caught my eye at home to Hull after their success in the north-east derby at Newcastle.
There are some tough looking games in the Championship but the side that stands out over evens is Leeds at home to struggling Wigan. I also like Watford at home to Wolves.
Doncaster shocked Swindon last week with a win at the County Ground and while they are better away they must be worth a look at home to Coventry.
Another League One side produced a surprise last week were Crewe who beat Bristol City. The Railwaymen travel to Oldham – probably by bus – and are a massive 5-1 at William Hill to win at an Oldham outfit who have lost their last two 7-0 and 4-0 and who must be suffering a crisis of confidence. Crewe draw no bet is a safer pick but still pays as big as 3-1 with Betfred.
Staying in League One and Chesterfield must have a chance at home to a Peterborough outfit who have lost five of their last six.
So these are my early thoughts – let's hear what you think and if you have spotted any team news that might put us off backing a certain team.
Super Single shortlist
Burnley v LIVERPOOL
Leicester v SPURS
SUNDERLAND v Hull
LEEDS v Wigan
WATFORD v Wolves
DONCASTER v Coventry
Oldham v CREWE
Oldham v CREWE DNB
CHESTERFIELD v Peterborough
PORTSMOUTH v Wimbledon
Watford to beat wolves looks good to me
Burton to win at home to Tranmere was one that stood out for me. Burton in good form since Jimmy FH took over and price over evens for a top 4 team to beat a side 2nd bottom looks appealing…
Watford looks good to me too, my boss is a season ticket holder down the wolves and he said they were rubbish against a dyer Brighton side last week. He doesn’t seem very confident in the side at the minute. Watford at home could be a banker.
Birmingham have won 3, lost 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5 home games while Derby have managed just 2 wins in their last 5 games on the road losing the remaining 3. Both teams have met 14 times with Derby wining just 2, Birmingham has won 7 and there has been 5 draws. Am tipping Birmingham to win this one @ 3.19
I wiuld leave the spurs alone. Leic have been too good in defeat to keep losing, home or draw for me
Best bet for me is low stske treble liverpool, sunderland, leeds
Tottenham
Leeds
Exeter
Will be watching West Ham with interest in their next 2 matches against Chelsea and Arsenal. They are currently 1000/1 to win the league. Stranger things have happened. Ok maybe not, but 1000/1 !
Merry Christmas on this most blessed day hope the new year will bring you many days of happiness Mr fix it and everyone Here!
A couple of notes on Sunderland for you Mr F. I do think we should be able to beat Hull, but there are a couple things to note.
Firstly, Hull were a little bit of a bogey team to us last year, beating us in the 3 games we played against them. Secondly, we have no proper full backs fit. Billy Jones may play as he’s back in training but I doubt he’s match fit. This could especially be a problem against Hull as they play 5 at the back and I feel we may need width to break them down. Width which we will massively lack if we start with Vergini and O’Shea at full back.
As I say, I do believe we can win if we carry forward the Derby momentum, especially with all of Hull’s injuries and suspensions but just thought I’d post to help you make a decision.
Macclesfield look like an amazing bet @12/5 against Grimsby. Considering Macclesfield are unbeaten at home thus far in league with 67% strike rate according to stats. Is there some team news that is affecting the betting?
Derby to beat Birmingham at their ground.
This fixture last season we missed a penalty, went 1 down, then scored 3 and then conceded 2, if I remember they were both late goals.
My last 3 tips including 2x super single comp entries have all landed and @ 5/4 I’m playing safe and going for a 4th straight tip.
I know Derby are in a bit of a rut at the moment, we’ve 1 point from a max of 9 but I expect us to get the job done even facing a revitalised Birmingham under ex-derby player Gary Rowett who has done a sterling job turning around Birminghams woes.
I’m one of the majority of Derby fans who are getting sick and tired of McClaren overlooking Eustace in favour of the on-loan from Real Madrid Mascarell – he aint all that !!!
Besides that, my step-father who is continually the butt of all jokes from 3 loyal Rams fan sons supports Birmingham, and I can see him getting some stick on Boxing day.
COYR !!!!!
Mr F. and every else, changed my mind about my super single ( not that I think derby will fail to win ) but because I’ve forgotten/overlooked something………
Patrick Bamford !!
Middlesborough play Notts Florist at the riverside, guess who supported florist as a kid??? Bamford did. Now you might think wait a sec, why would I bet on him to net at anytime? Well firstly because Middlesborough will be way too good for those tree huggers, but also because Bamfords loyalty’s were never once tested when he played for Derby against Florist when we demolished them 5-0.
He laid a defence splitting peach of a through ball to Hendrick I believe that gave us the 3-0 lead, and got us the penalty for Brysons hatrick completion. Theres no disputing, this lad is a superb talent and destined to extend his season on loan at middlesborough. He’s being played week in week out in the starting 11 and he’s showing Mourinho that he could well be ready for Premiership regular football next season. And he’s cost next to nothing.
He’s definitely one of the best strikers in the league, and could even be a cheeky outsider to gatecrash the top goalscorer table, come May. ( he’s had 8 or 9 this season – martin @ derby is on 14 I think ) so he’s not exactly out of the running.
Bamford is also playing as a striker/finisher, not off someones shoulder. He’s in the role he loves.
15/8 to net at anytime against Florist.
mr f nothing i like Boxing day but one that stands out at odds that are surely far too big
Sunday
Qpr v Crystal Palace
QPR 7/5 betvictor & stan james
Morecambe 17/10 BetVictor to beat Carlisle.
Morecambe won last 2 home games v Luton & Bury while Carlisle are nothing short of shocking away from home losing 5 from last 5 games
Crewe -2 45/1
Southampton -2 9/1
I’ll have a we cheeky £5 on the double,be nice to land a big 1 heading into the new yr :),merry Xmas guys/girls,been a pleasure following the site, wonder how many women actually follow the site, anyway I’m away to pour a nice captain Morgan and coke seing its Xmas in all haha :)
As Raaljaca pointed out earlier in the week, Hibs to beat Rangers double chance has to be worth considering after all that has gone on at Ibrox recently.
I’m going for a Exeter win over Cheltenham Town, Cheltenham town are in poor form at the minute and I can see Exeter winning easily.
Odds are just over evens
Might try a wee 2-0 correct score yankee for a change. On first glance Chelsea, Everton, Sunderland and Bolton look candidates. The secret is to pick the team who will score nil first.
Carrying on what Scott said – we beat Sunderland 3 times last season, conceding 0. Albeit, twice in those fixtures they were sent down to 10 and 9 men respectively. While our trio of centre midfielders will be out with injury/suspension, we really need to start picking up the points. Hopefully Sunderland will be over confident with their brilliant result in the Derby. I reckon this could easily be a score draw so just be wary, especially with Bruce being a Geordie, there’s not a better fixture to get one over the old enemy.
Mr F, personally I don’t touch the lower leagues on the win market so I would be tempted to stay in the Premier League as I am much more familiar with the teams. I would not touch Spurs, they have grabbed a few late wins against the run of play especially at Swansea and this is not live! Liverpool should scrape the win given their form against both United and Arsenal and by that I mean performance wise. I would rather take a punt on a home team at decent odds so by process of elimination I would be on Sunderland to beat Hull afteir their performance against Newcastle. Hull are in all sorts of trouble at the moment.
Dover @ 9/10 against Welling who had a hard game on Tuesday ,I will also stick them in a trbl with Liverpool and Norwich GL all.
Early thoughts from Browning towers:
Norwich v Millwall
Back over 1.5 Norwixh team goals 4/6 ( NAP )
Portsmouth v AFC Wimbledon
Back over 1.5 Portsmouth team goals 1/1
Had a free bet so but all them singles into a acca for a giggle, brings in just shy of 1700/1 @bet365
Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas
Yes I look the look of Leeds.Spurs @ Liverpool and going to do them in a Trixie btts win. The treb pays around 100/1.
Watford win im afraid.
Im a wolves fan and we got lucky with the draw last game, and we were shocking to say the least. Cant see us getting anything at Watford im afraid.
Bham vs Derby (15th vs 5th)
The Blues are now in revival with new manager and former blues player Gary Rowett, losing only once under his wing. Blues last 5 championship games read WWDWL.
Their last home game was a 6-1 thumping of Reading, with a hatrick from youngster Demarai gray.
Derby in contrast are showing a dip in form despite being 5th in the table. This game will be vital if they are to keep up with the top teams. Derby have one won 1 in 5 of their last 5 games in all competitions. However their away form is pretty decent despite two away back to back losses in their last 2.
I expect Derby to come back strong despite a blip in form of recent, but blues wont make it easy for them.
BTTS has come in the last 8 h2hs between these two in a run stretching back to 2010!
With Bham coming into form and confidence from their new manager I expect Blues to score at home, especially when Derby will be desperate for a win and therefore inclined to attack. Last meeting was a 3-3 draw and I expect more of this tomorrow with Derby just edging a win.
Recommended bets:
Btts yes @ 4/6 NAP
over 2.5 mg @ 4/5
With Inter-Watford for me too!
Eastleigh to beat woking 5/4 ladbrokes.
Great write up Inter. If you don’t mind I’ll be jumping on the btts shout. Birmingham double chance might be worth considering.
No problem Wednesbury. I was thinking Bham double chance but I think Derby will come good tomorrow.
Btts and over 2.5mg are the safer options perhaps btts and derby win at 3/1 as a smaller stake.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Hearts & Albion Rovers. Perm any 3, 4 & all 5 = 16 bets @ £3 per bet. 4 correct more or less returns your cash with all 5 earning a tasty profit. Enjoy the festivities and the best of punting luck to one and all
Woody,if as you say it takes 4 correct just to return your stake then getting all 5 correct hardly returns a handsome profit,at the poor odds these teams pay it is hardly worth the effort of paying for all the permed bets it involves, only worth perming bets if the individual odds are decent not at an average of 1/3 unless you are using large stakes.
For me it’s got to be Liverpool or Watford but I imagine Liverpool’s odds won’t be good enough tonight/tomorrow morning to make them a contender?
Just taken Leeds at 17/10 on PP website
Looks like a glitch but bet accepted
Liverpool -1
Norwich – 1
Middlesboro – 1.
A nice wee treble for xmas. Merry xmas guys. Good luck on boxing day. Lets bash them bookies!!!!
I’m going for a treble of
Man City -1
Spurs
Liverpool
£20 returns £170
Also with £2 on 1 fail total stake is £26 for money back with 1 wrong
man united/man city/norwich/bristol city.pays 5/1 on bundle @ betfred
merry xmas to all.
tomorrow i will go with manutd btts&over2.5 as the tradition wants.

Exeter playing well at home there last 5 W3 D2. 2 draws against 3rd and 4th place teams, they also won against top of the league wycombe and 2nd place shrewbury.
Feliz Natal all and Merry xmas to boot.
Nice research by Kriscy, i guess all it proves is in 5 or so games it will be over 2.5 – its just picking the right ones!
NAP for 2mrw….Bristol City to beat Yeovil at home 3/4 bet365..Thats ATM time.
Hi
Paul
A merry christmas to you and everyone who uses the site
My super single for boxing day is
BURTON V TRANMERE DRAW
Hi guys, hope you’re having a great Christmas.
My super single tomorrow is Middlesbrough, 5/6. At home to a struggling forest side.
I also like the look of Swansea at 7/10 at home to villa. I think Swansea might win this by a few goals. I’m going for the double. Good luck.
Lierse SK vs CLUB BRUGGE @1.4
* Club Brugge are 1st whilst Lierse are bottom of the table.
* Club Brugge have W5 D1 L0 in their last 6 and their last 6 away reads W3 D3 L3.
* Lierse SK are in terrible form with W0 D2 L4 in their last 6 but their last 6 at home reads W2 D2 L2.
* Their last 6 Head to Head has been W4 D1 L1 in favour of Brugge.
I think Brugge is a decent price to win @1.4.
Need trabzonspor to land an 18/1 rolling bet over the past couple of days… Only stuck a tenner on… Wish I’d stuck a hell of a lot more than that would of considered a cover bet but not goin to bother won my Accra yesterday of hearts, Halifax, Capri, bologna and pescara paid £130 for a tenner… Come on trabzonspor for a great crimbo…
Like the look of these three
Sunderland 20/19 @ Bet365
Ipswich 85/40 @ BetVictor
Crewe 9/2 @ Bet365 and others
Fleetwood over 2.5 goals. Rotherham over 2.5 goals. Man U. Over 2.5 yellow card. Arsenal over 10.5 cornerkick. Exeter win/draw..
Sunderland, Watford and Middlesboro treble – 6.77/1 Bet365
Justin W who can you place the one team fail with?
I’m for A £200 treble
Watford
Btts in Birmingham v derby
And btts in Chelsea v west ham
If Chelsea game down then another treble maybe have over 2.5 in Man U game
Boxing Day
Watford
Bristol City
Man City
£10 returns £49.60 GL If you follow
Man City best bet of the day. Even with no strikers 8/15 to beat hopeless wba is just too much to miss tbh.
liverpool and tottenham to both win either half is over evens at 2.2 via betfair a possible lump
It is worth bearing in mind for the Saturday fixtures, that those playing away on Boxing day, may be at a disadvantage due to travel, especially if they have to travel far. 48 hours and teams are playing again.
Sunderland to beat Hull.
Stephen, it’s a good point. I have to do Saturday tips before Friday’s games for the Record this week so I may be changing them for the site after seeing how things pan out on Friday and see what changes teams might be making.
Crewe look massive odds considering Oldham have been so poor Crewe add 1 or Crewe double chance.what you think mr fix it
Carlos, my tips are up now having trawled team news. I still like Crewe DNB but they have a few injury problems.
Surely a boom trabzonspor 4-0 up 18/1 Acca rolling up over two days… Lovely… 12/1 Acca already won yesterday… Will be putting my bets up for tomorow up in the morning both bets have been won with majority of games bein double chance you have to stake a bit more to get a decent return but it’s working for me at the moment… Merry Christmas to me
lovely took tranzbonspor -3 at half time 200 pound on if currently up 7-0 merry Xmas !
Well done David… My Acca won too… 18/1 lovely… Had £180 back and had £130 back this morning for another tenner from yesterday … Hope the luck continues tomorow mate
Brilliant dale hope you keep bashing the bookie too mate started with 50 yesterday and got 560 in the account onwards and upwards all down to this site some very good tipsters
Perth glory could also be a contender for the supper single at 2.88 to win, top of the league playing away to 6th placed melbourne city, odds are 1.95 for perth to win either half for those that would play it safer
super* also boast the best home and away record in their division
Long may your great selections continue mate… Great tipsters on here mate nearly won just over £700 the other day for a giver with 1 game to go both teams to score it was… After much trial and tribulation I covered the bet after help from people on the site who kindly gave me stats on previous games between the two sides both team to score looked an absolute no no… So put £300 on them both not to score and had £540 back so made a £235 profit… So I’m on a bit of a winning streak at the mo… My bets involve a lot of teams double chance and it’s working at the mo u put a bit more on to get a decent return mind.. Feeling confident about tomorow to be honest mate gd luck bud
