WE only have three weeks to go in the Irn-Bru Scottish Football Leagues – and three more chances to beat the bookies.
Last Saturday on Grand National day my SFL treble hit the hurdles like so many horses at Aintree.
But now is not the time for horsing around and I am looking to pick another winner and show I am no donkey.
I kick-off in the First Division and look in on Falkirk’s home clash with Raith Rovers.
Steven Pressley’s men have missed out in their bid to win the title and all that remains for them now is pride and pipping Dundee to second place.
The Bairns go into this one 13 points ahead of relegation-threatened Rovers and despite the Kirkcaldy side battling for the lives I reckon Falkirk will be just too strong for them.
Falkirk have won six of their last seven home clashes with Rovers and I am taking them to make it seven heaven at 5-4 with Coral.
I move on to the Second Division and concentrate on East Fife’s home encounter with Stirling. Since Gordon Durie took the reins at the Fifers they have won three of their last five matches with only one defeat in that time.
They still have a chance of earning a place in the end-of-season play-offs and will be desperate to win all of their remaining matches.
They go into this one against a rock-bottom Stirling side they are 14 points ahead of in the table and who have defeated 1-0 in the last two battles between the clubs. Take Durie’s side to come out on top at 3-4 with BetVictor.
I finish up in the Irn-Bru Third Division and look in on improving Peterhead’s home clash with Clyde. The Balmoor boys are in good form just now and go into this clash against a Clyde side just one place below them in the table on the back of three straight wins.
They start off 11 points ahead of Jim Duffy’s side and I reckon they can earn a repeat of the
1-0 win they recorded over the Bully Wee at Broadwood in January. Take a home victory for Peterhead at 4-5 with William Hill.
