I HAD planned to post a European both teams to score line this morning but was thrown by the news of Gary Speeds's death.
It's a tragedy for his family and Welsh football and I felt for players such as Shay Given, a former team-mate, who were struggling to control their emotions before the Swansea v Aston Villa game kicked off.
To play the match must have been a close call but it's what Speed would have wanted – the game goes on.
And so do my tips and having observed the minute's silence for Speed that turned into a minute's applause I've taken a look at some of the games with later kick-offs.
I'll be first to admit I've not been as focused on the selections as normal but no one with a love of football can fail to be affected by the loss of a 42-year-old former player and now promising manager, whether you know the guy or not.
Start the line with Liverpool v Man City, a game I felt was certain of hitting the overs before the Speed news.
The Swansea game – as well as the one at Kilmarnock – started slowly and we could get the same reaction in Liverpool, a city where Speed played with Everton and one that has close connections to Wales.
Craig Bellamy for one. What sort of mindset will he be in, a guy who lives off his emotions on the pitch.
Hopefully the match will be a fitting tribute to Speed with both teams scoring.
On the continent take the late Bundesliga clash between Mainz and Bayern Munich. Mainz have netted four in their last two home games, beating Stuttgart 3-1 and losing to Werder Bremen by the same score.
Bayern surprisingly lost to Dortmund last week and will be looking to bounce back. They have only lost once on the road so will be looking for the goals that send them back to the top.
Next head to Spain and the clash between Athletic Bilbao and Granada. Athletic have made a decent start to their season and their six home games have featured 20 goals.
Granada are the new boys who hope to make a splash and after a tough start they won 2-1 at Sevilla on their last trip. That should give them a bit of confidence and that can score against a side who have conceded in five of their last six.
Make it a fourfold with an exciting looking French clash between Marseille and PSG. Marseille have lost just once at home and PSG just once on their travels.
It has the look of a score draw about it and that will do nicely for our line.
Roll the fourfold on to Monday night's League One spectacular between Charlton and Huddersfield. There shoould be plenty of goals between the top two and I'll have a full preview of the match on the site later.
Both teams to score
Liverpool v Man City (4pm)
Mainz v Bayern Munich (4.30pm)
Athletic Bilbao v Granada (6.45pm)
Marseille v PSG (8pm)
Charlton v Huddersfield (Monday)
Perm any 4 and all 5 (6 bets)
Fivefold pays a biggest £203.30 to a £10 stake at Stan James
2 from 2 so far. Over to tonight!
Nick, looks like you were the lucky one. Pretty close again but I made my excuses earlier. The Sunday line will normally be posted late on Saturday night.
Gutted I missed today’s both teams 2/2 so far.
Saturday was unlucky Morcombe and tranmere . Hopefully u will have a big both teams bet up for Saturday mate. Keep up the good work . Thanks
Reece, nearly there again. Thought the hard part might be Granada scoring although they are improving but they did the business then unfortunately held on.
i had selected partick thistle for the bodog comp. on bet365 livescores they had it down as the first goal of the 3pm KO’s is this correct?
Steven, the contest clearly states first goal on Jeff Stelling’s show. This was Queen of the South. Thistle may have scored the quickest goal of the day but that’s not what we’re asking. You have to remember not all 3pm games kick off at the same time and not all first goals are given as minutes and seconds which is what we need if it was fastest goal.
