I HAVEN'T quite made it to Augusta yet – one leg to go – but when I do I expect Jordan Spieth still to be leading the way.

The young American, one of Ace Venturer's outright tips, lit up the tournament on day one with a sparkling eight-under 64 and leads the field by three.

Spieth, who would have equalled the Major record of 63 barring a bogey at the par-five 15th, is three head of Australian Jason Day, Ernie Els, Justin Rose and Charley Hoffman, with Sergio Garcia and Russell Henley on four under.

Rory McIlroy kept his dreams of completing the career Grand Slam on track with an opening 71, with Tiger Woods recording a 73 in just his third start of the year.

On-form Spieth, who has finished first, second and second in his last three tournaments, is 11-4 with William Hill to win the tournament.

Day is 11-2 second favourite with BetVictor while McIlroy is generally available at 10-1.

Looking good after day one as I did Speith(-8),Day(-5)and reed(-2). My other two E/w picks Walker and JB Holmes are not looking so hot though.

He’ll have to do a Rory-esque meltdown from here to be beaten.

Can somebody help me out here.

Not a regular punter on the golf. But I have a few top 20 bets etc so was I wondering how it worked out. Say the competition ended today with the scores as they are.

The cut being at +2 with everyone on that score tied 50th, but there are only 12 scores from +2 to -14.

So I’m wondering if it were to end how it was now. Would the players tied 50th still count as a top 20 win because there are only 12 scores? Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Jordan I don’t get exactly what you mean, but if it ended today with the scores currently as they are then all those tied in 19th place would class as a winner if you had them to finish in the top 20 but the odds become less because obviously because we have 8 tied in 19th place. Anyone outside of that would be a loss. And anyone 12th place and onwards would be a win with the original odds. I hope that helps make it a little clearer mate
