TEAM news is everything when looking a bet on the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final at Anfield.

If this was a league game on current form the Blues would be my Super Single – but while I believe Chelsea will qualify for the Final they may not bust a gut at Liverpool.

Chelsea were sublime at Swansea on Saturday – and if they play close to that level eith the same 11 players they'll blow away Liverpool and of course won there 2-1 in the league earlier this season.

Jose Mourinho's men are clearly the strongest side in the Premier League and my antepost tips are nailed on for the title.

Chelsea's 5-0 sinking of the Swans moved them five clear at the top and while the League Cup isn't the manager's priority he has always treated the tournament with respect – winning it twice in three seasons in his first spell in charge.

In the last round at Derby he fielded half his stars and he's named a full squad for tonight.

I expect three or four changes from the Liberty Stadium line-up but hopefully he'll field Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Oscar and rest his main men for Saturday's FA Cup clash with Bradford.

Hold off for the team news and if he goes with Costa and Co back the Blues at 5-4 with Paddy Power. If not consider the draw at 5-2 with McBookie and BetVictor as that will suit Chelsea ahead of a return at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have improved with one defeat in 14 and could have Steven Gerrard back but without Daniel Sturridge their attack isn't good enough to back them at 13-5 with boylesports.

Chelsea are 4-5 favourites at McBookie to win the Capital One Cup. A Chelsea-Spurs final at Wembley looks on and pays 1-2.

Agreed Paul, can’t see Liverpool losing on their current form, Chelsea can be hit and miss at the big sides. BTTS and liverpool to win at 6/1 for me

chelsea never have and never will blow away liverpool, yes they have beaten liverpool but never in a fashion as to your statement, remember when chelsea v liverpool fa cup semi final played at old trafford chelsea were favorates and that year were on for the domestic double, liverpool thumped them 1-2 i know i was there these two more than anyone raise their game when playing eachother so the term blow away i very much doubt.

I agree Liverpool always raise their game against Chelsea, however this is probably the best Chelsea team they will have played if Mourinho decided to go full strength.

Mourinho has always been cautious when playing over two legs, he is more than happy to walk away with a score draw playing away from home and trusting his team will do the business at Stamford Bridge.

Waiting for team news but if he starts:

Costa to score anytime 11/10 bet365

Chelsea’s bench beats Liverpool’s bench as far as i am concerned, and in the Capital One cup thats what you have to suspect at this stage.

Drogba, Remy, Schurrle, Ramires, Zoumba etc would all start in Liverpools 11.

    Chelsea win.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool play FA cup ties against lower division sides on Saturday.I cannot see them resting players tonight as they will think tonight is more important.Liverpool are at home to Bolton and Chelsea are at home to Bradford.

Liverpool always raise there game against Chelsea especially a midweek fixture at Anfield.

Jose Mourinho has a habit of playing cautious away from home in two leg competitions. More times than not he is happy to walk away with a score draw and trust his team to do the business at Stamford Bridge.

With Liverpool’s goalkeeping mistakes and defensive frailties I think Diego Costa to score anytime is a safer bet than Chelsea to win.

Will be waiting to see team lineups but would expect to see him play.

    11/10 bet365 anytime goalscorer.

For those of you who like omens.

Liverpool have beaten Chelsea in the last two league cup ties at Anfield
Brendan Rodgers has not beating Chelsea as Liverpool manager (5 attempts)
Martin Atkinson has overseen 31 Chelsea games, they have lost just 3 of these. He has also overseen 4 Chelsea-Liverpool games, 3 of which Chelsea won 2-0, Liverpool won the Community Shield final.

I can only see one weakness in that Chelsea team and that’s Mikel.Liverpool should have played Lambert up front to give Chelseas defence something to think about.Chelsea wont want to draw this game they will go for the win.In the league at Anfield Chelsea never played that well but still won without breaking sweat so its Blues for me.
