Lucky 15 New Featured Image

I am always happy when I stick with a losing selection and they get the job done, that's what big John L Sullivan did for us yesterday but unfortunately, small errors once again cost us landing anything significant. I disclosed the concerns on Spioradalta but still put it up, typically Alex Jary won on the horse he was actually there for, another case of seeing the ducks line up but failing to pull the trigger. I had hinted at results improving so we can take the positives but I am eager to land us a nice bet and this was another opportunity missed given how hard it can be to get two outright winners.

I am getting to work on tomorrow's racing really early which hopefully doesn't go against us as I haven't got the market to guide, think what you like about it, it is certainly easier with them getting the ball rolling. The AW is the place to be for value it seems with the jumps action looking extremely prohibitive from an each-way angle. With that said, my main fancy is quite a short price so I won't be risking total outsiders today.

Attacanter's Tips

Jane Temple 2/1 – 12.15 Southwell

Jane Temple is only the second horse I have included at such a price, the other bombed badly not too long ago, as a result, I vowed not to entertain such prices again but for this runner, an exception can be made. She represents top connections and in what the bookmakers have as a three runner race, I don't mind risking such a shorty one last time hoping she'll be fully effective on the Southwell surface.

It was her debut effort I saw at Kempton just over a month ago, she was out the back and wouldn't have had many eyes on her until late when flying home from a long way back, she left it far too late to get her head in front but now upped 2 furlongs, we'll take her chance given that move looks sure to suit. The two market rivals are respected, Steel Tiger actually represents the trainer who beat her on debut but all being well it is hard to see her out of the places and with the added win prospects, she'll lead the line in today's bet.

Swinging London 8/1 – 12.50 Southwell

With so much racing, and such a short-priced favourite, this may not be my finest selection but the horse has it's merits and I am ready to include her now promising apprentice S D Bowen is able to take 3lbs off his back for the first time.

The yard form is quite a concern, having gone a couple of months without a winner but such small yards typically line their's up as and when required so we won't read too much into it. The horse is a Southwell regular, he finished ahead of a recent selection of mine, Seraphic, that race was here over 1f shorter, the winner of that race had S D Bowen on board, which we'll take as a positive despite being beaten by 3 lengths.

Bowen puts the horse on 53 and I thought despite the risk of a no-show, he does make an ideal horse to conclude the bet with place claims being strong enough. The win isn't totally out the question either based on the C&D 2nd back in February in a slightly better race rated 67, a significant 14lb higher mark than today.

Darlo Pride 7/1 – 17.05 Newcastle

I have taken out Sassy Glory for the same owner/jockey, a horse who may well benefit from the drop back in trip but she is losing an apprentice's claim and stamina seemed her forte, she was in until spotting this runner so we'll hope we're correct in risking Darlo Pride just a week after he finished 2nd for us.

The horse saw support last time and did travel extremely well but he was soundly beaten by a big drifter and is now out again so soon, we can at least hope he has been kept up to his work ready to attack again. Last time it was a 5f race at Southwell, he's not been tried at Newcastle before but it is a slightly more testing track and given we have some form over 6f, I have been swayed.

He last ran on Tuesday 28th October if you wanted to read my thoughts on him from that day, he's been consistent and remains on a decent mark with Sam James retaining the ride, I am hopeful we see another promising effort and without assessing rivals he goes in with the added chances he can actually win. Support for him again would obviously be a positive.

Cakewalk 8/1 – 19.00 Chelmsford

The market leader is a C&D winner from 9lbs higher last year, the price isn't overly different to my selection and a lot less is to be taken on trust, given the short priced odds, it would be sound to put him up but I am going to take a chance on the lightly raced Sea the Stars filly who is yet to show anything of any significance.

The horse is thrown in based on the success the yard has been having recently, we capitalised on that at the weekend and overall you don't go to far wrong following these connections, of course they are likely to bomb now and it could well be a dead rubber but once again a chance is taken in what has been quite a turbulent day for me with time now getting tight.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
