It wasn't overly prudent dipping into the big fields at the Curragh yesterday, the John Quinn runner finishing one out of the places ultimately costing us profit on the day. Newtonian put in a nice performance before the smashed-in Slugger slugged it out to get the job done giving us some small respite.

Attacanter's tips

Kitty Furnival 7/2 – 17.00 Wolverhampton

It's clearly not an ideal price, but these bets are hard to return profit without outright winners and as such, to keep things respectable we'll include them as and when. The yard are very much respected, they have a similar filly in Charlotte's Web out at the moment who took a similar step up in her stride recently and we'll hope for the same here.

The horse is upped just over a furlong returning 33 days after a comfortable enough success on only her 5th start. Plenty of big names were represented that day and upped just 3lbs in a weak enough race she should certainly be capable of mixing it at this level, it'll be tougher up against experienced older horses but enough have their own questions to answer.

Magico 8/1 four places – 14.57 Kempton

Marco Botti and Keiran Shoemark are winless from 14 rides which made me tentative in a race where Lucy Wadham's favourite has been heavily supported for a jumps trainer who had a winner yesterday. This is her only flat runner to win recently so the bottom-weight with apprentice S D Bowen on does seem to have strong chances.

With Marco Ghiani at Southwell, a place may be the best we can hope for but the horse has had a different man on board each time he's got his head in front. Harry Davies is one of those, he's involved in this race which is a negative but Shoemark has been kinder to me over the years than many so I'll chance him today in this series finale.

The horse Magico last won at the end of August, it was over C&D in a Class 4 rated 4lbs lower than today, that was a comfortable enough success with Liam Swagger closest in behind, he's 2-2 over hurdles since. In the middle of September at Doncaster, Tom Marquand was on board in a Class 2 when a nice enough 3rd, now back at Kempton, that form does entitle him to figure despite the risks attached with Shoemark.

Another Beautiful 14/1 four places – 17.30 Wolverhampton

Ivan Furtado let us down recently but he is no stranger to decent price successes in this territory, of course the stats would likely imply they're few and far between – and most trainers pop up similarly, but I'll be hoping today is one of those times as it is Another Beautiful I have landed on after glancing over most of the opposition.

The horse has had 10 runs as a four-year-old, with little to report, she started the year over much further without making any inroads, in July she was down to 1m4f before her only run of any note to date at Beverley when 3rd rated 1lb higher than today. That form line looks likeable enough with Dandy's Angel in 4th before his slurry of success. We know that's a stiff track so her stamina will have helped, it won't be required today so much but she remains over the same trip returned to the AW and although a long shot, there is some optimism she can feature at a nice price.

Scylla 11/1 four places – 19.15 Southwell

I am going to go with our Scylla in the stayers race at Southwell, it looks ultra-competitive with a whole host of chances scattered amongst a strong-looking favourite but I am hoping the top-weighted Charlie Fellowes runner can bounce back with Mikkel Mortensen able to claim once again.

The horse only managed 4th over C&D when last seen four weeks ago but as hinted at, the stable apprentice now claims 5lbs and he's better weighted with two who oppose again today. Lindwall is 12lbs worse off and the winner, Anna of Saxony is 8lbs worse, looking at the odds that clearly isn't the strongest form line on offer but it does suggest if on a going day, he is capable of featuring off 6lbs lower.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
