Wednesday’s Football Tips: Why Aberdeen look overpriced against reeling Rangers

It's a massive night in the SPFL Premiership title race as Aberdeen look to pile the misery on a Rangers side in poor form.

Jimmy Thelin's Dons have been the story of the season so far in Scotland, matching champions Celtic stride for stride in the first nine games.

The only match they haven't won this term came at Parkhead – and even that felt like a victory as they came from 2-0 down to claim a point.

Rangers, on the other hand, seem to be permanently on the brink of a crisis and have already lost to Celtic, Kilmarnock, Dynamo Kiev and Lyon.

It was always going to be fascinating to see how the bookies priced this one up as the Old Firm are never outsiders against one of the other teams in the Premiership.

Plenty of punters will fancy a nibble on the Dons at that price but the Old Firm do have a habit of pulling a win out the bag just when you think they look vulnerable.

It's a busy night in the EFL Cup, with Manchester City's trip to Tottenham Hotspur the pick of the six last-16 ties.

This tournament looks like Tottenham's best chance of ending a trophy drought that has now stretched to 16 years. Drawing City in the last 16 would have left their fans cursing but this could be a good time to play Pep Guardiola's side.

Manchester City are struggling with a few injuries and Guardiola has hinted he might play a few kids to stop other stars from suffering burnout.

Tottenham have a decent record in this fixture and have home advantage so look a decent price to qualify at evens with Befred.

Manchester United v Leicester City top betting tips

Manchester United begin life after Erik ten Hag as they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford in the EFL Cup.

This looks like being Ruud van Nistelrooy's only game in charge with the Red Devils in advanced talks to land Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim.

Although United have been in dismal form they still have a team packed with quality players and the departure of Ten Hag could spark them to life.

Backing the Red Devils to be winning at half-time and full-time pays 20/21 at Bet365 and that looks decent value.

Matthijs de Ligt gave away the penalty that proved to be the final straw for ten Hag's reign and the Dutchman already has two cards to his name this term.
