Having had quite a poor day to say the least, I was looking forward to digging into the racing but not a lot is aligning with my so called expertise.

It was annoying to chance Ed Dunlop's outsider, only to see him have a 50/1 winner elsewhere. Fine margins can be argued again but we'll try again and hope to put at least one nice bet together before the week is out.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Laafi 7/1 – 15.45 Nottingham

I put up Whip Cracker recently, a tentative selection who let us down miserably, the form line I used saw Laafi in behind, a horse who I am going to take a chance with today, overlooking last year's winner Mr Alan who won by a nose hair in a thriller.

I put up a Haggass runner yesterday who drifted badly in the market, Laafi is already a point bigger since looking but I will hope this mud lover can get involved today dipping his toes back into a Class 3 for the first time since his last win nearly a year ago.

Cieren Fallon was on for the win and a 2lb higher mark is workable with the class drop and going both positives, we clearly have a bit to take on trust given his recent runs but assuming he wasn't up all night playing his xbox, he holds stronger claims than yard's I included yesterday.

Fromheretoeternity 15/2 four places – 16.38 Worcester

The selection makes her first run for Jennie Candlish, which for me isn't overly ideal but there aren't too many appealing races and a chance will be taken this one is capable of at least showing the form of her best run at Wexford back in May.

The horse had an Irish rating of 87 when dead heating for 2nd over 2m1f, she was a very distant 7th when upped to two and a half miles, she is dropped back to two miles which should suit despite only having one good run to her name. Her mark of 98 could well be steep enough against some likable rivals but the trainer's jumpers have been going well.

Of course, the profile of this horse is much different to her's that have been going well but this dual purpose trainer has a likeable looking set of results over the obstacles. Two wins and a 2nd most recently ahead of plenty of placed efforts. It isn't what I typically rate as a selection but once again the race for a place looks open.

Fortunate Star 5/1 four places – 17.20 Nottingham

With a strong market leader, I am happy to take a chance on one of the outsiders with an extra place, Memho is carrying a considerable weight, I liked his form line just 4lbs above winning a similar event to this recently but it is the one close enough behind him in that race that is included at a price I am not overly fond of.

Although almost a 4 lengths behind Mehmo over today;s C&D in similar conditions in April, Fortunate Star was carrying 6lbs more and runs today carrying 15lbs less, a 21lb swing, which does imply the form line isn't the most strong but for me that does give the horse a chance.

He is 13lbs below his last win from April this year, it is hard to be confident the trianer has the horse going all out to win this low key affair, there are some experienced riders in this and they typically are the ones to side with, especially when there are so many with barely a handful of rides. Our rider has only been seen four times, but did ride this horse last time finishing 3rd two weeks ago which is good enough for me.

Melisende 9/1 four places – 20.15 Kempton

Melisende was a winner a month back at Lingfield over this trip beating Sharmardia by half a length, a horse who won either side of that race. The selection was out the back and made her effort wide winning nicely enough, the 3rd had come into the race off a win too, her price is accurate enough but that run does imply she has another decent effort in her.

She has a very unappealing record overall and we have to forgive her completely bombing last time but with Tom Marquand taking over it is likely we'll see an honest effort. His six winners with the trainer is her second most winningest jockey, operating at 20.7% on the artitical surfaces.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
