Yesterday's wasn't one we'll want to see a repeat of, I was happy enough with the chances we took but my face did drop when I saw Empirestateofmind win at 14/1, a horse who I began to write up initially, not that it's of any use to us now, we can just hope going forward I can avoid being swayed by external influences.

Attacanter's Tips

Premiere Ligne 14/1 six places – 15.40 Newmarket

I am asking for trouble taking a punt in the Cesarewitch but that is what racing is about, I thoroughly detest the ultra-serious punter who surely can't be getting the most out of the sport not taking a gamble once in a while.

There are plenty of easy selections in this, Willie Mullins has run riot in the race plenty of times so to see the top Newmarket jockey on the market leader at a fair enough price was tempting. There are others who've contested Group 1's but my selection travelled so well last time out I don't care what he's up against.

He may well be out of his depth but given I backed it last time, I cannot avoid Premiere Ligne who looked a certain winner in a trial for this recently when in my view, he was effectively saved for today by avoiding a penalty. The trainer has gone one step further and reached for a 5lb apprentice which obviously only adds to my enthusiasm despite how much of a shock winner he would prove.

It was the fourth 2nd in a row but only his second try over such extreme distances, which the horse has seemingly loved, on his first try he was a pleasing enough 2nd of 18 at Goodwood before that off 2lbs higher than today. We'll need a bit of luck but anyone watching his last race will surely be happy to take the chance from near the bottom of the weights.

Orazio 16/1 six places – 14.40 York

Orazio was 3rd in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot under Saffie Osborne, he's been behind 40 of his 41 rivals in his two races since but with Saffie back on today, I am ready to chance him.

The form of the Wokingham is actually quite strong, Dark Trooper a head in front is a nice enough type whilst Unequal Love has proven himself in Group 1 company. The 4th, Lethal Levi has won two big races since which assures me on his day the selection should be capable of getting involved now in a Heritage Handicap.

The trainer has had 6 of his last 8 finish 2nd which could be worse, my usual stats since has been unavailable all week so I'll throw this one knowing he'll enjoy conditions despite having a bit to prove.

Claxton Bay 5/1 four places – 17.50 Chelmsford

I don't typically back favourites or those near the top of the market but I am trying to be more responsible now sharing selections with you, or perhaps I am just being lazy, but I have put up shorter priced horses who made less appeal so I am happy enough with this last time out winner.

One annoying thing is the horse is a reasonable price on skybet, but I am limited to bet365 and will stick with him at a shorter price. Monk's Mead is a C&D winner who I put up before, he bombed for us but may have claims 2lbs above that win, unfortunately I am not willing to do another write up so will stick with this one who I hope will prove he is more reliable.

Having been picked up from Richard Hannon, Dave Evans has gone this horse running well of late, with a 3rd and 2nd at Salisbury before he finally got his head in front for the first time last time. Without outlaying it all, the form of those runs read well enough for Class 6 racing, the well beat 3rd last time has won since.

Now back on an artificial surface up just 3lbs, I am happy to include him kept at this basement level with Richard Kingscote taking over, which in my view is a positive jockey booking having had a couple of winners for the trainer this season.

Titainium 12/1 five places – 17.05 York

This looks quite a hard race to suss out despite a strong market leader representing a decent trainer who seems to do well whenever the ground is boggy. At the prices there is little room to chance at outsider but my eye was drawn to the Grant Tuer trained runner Titainium.

Since looking over his profile, I wouldn't consider him a typical assured selection but he has been consistent enough and although fairly priced, can outrun his odds and continue his decent season now up against some more serious opposition.

The horse has improved since being upped to this trip and with a few having that question over them, we can hope that small advantage can play into our hands. He isn't overly assured on the going, but his stablemate and half brother ran here yesterday when 5th in a Class 3 having gone into the race off the back of a win on soft.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
