It was nice to land a winner on Sunday in the shape of Zaynab, who won at advised odds of 9/4.

Zaynab's victory was a promising start to her jumps racing career. After just one outing over the hurdles, she already looks like a capable performer who should progress further in due course.

Both of Rizzel's selections were unfortunately losing ones, and he can probably count himself a tad unlucky with his last selection Susiesparkle who wasn't given the greatest of rides by apprentice jockey Mohammed Tabti. It's always a risk going with apprentice jockeys, but I'm confident if Susiesparkle had a more capable jockey on board she would have won.

Rizz is taking a well deserved day off, so it'll be just the two selections from myself for Monday's racing.

Profit and loss for the month stands at -19 points. As previously mentioned, since I'm dropping down to a more come-and-go basis ( 15 times per month ) the P&L from next month will be solely tracked on Rizzel's selections.

Cairnzy's Tips

The Dragon King 15/8 – Hamilton 2.58

For my first selection of the day I've gone for the Clive Cox trained The Dragon King who looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways.

This appears to be a two-horse race in my opinion between my selection and the Karl Burke-trained Invincible Annice. Invincible Annice has a solid profile for this contest and, carrying less weight than my selection should prevent The Dragon King from having things entirely his own way.

With that said, I still feel The Dragon King is worth sticking with in his current mood and he brings the more solid form to this contest with two wins and a respectable sixth at Goodwood in his last three runs. My selection drops back in both grade and distance for this contest, with the distance not being an issue given he has won over 5f twice already in his short racing career.

I'd like to quickly touch on the form on some of his recent runs, and there is two races that stood out to me as solid pieces of form. The Dragon King won two starts back at Windsor, beating home Karl Burke's Storm Call by a neck. Storm Call has since ran well at Listed Level, beaten just over 3L by the eventual winner. Storm Call has also finished runner up behind Coto De Caza who finished runner up two days ago at Ayr in a Listed contest. The Dragon King's most recent effort in a Class 2 Nursery at Goodwood is also strong form. That Nursery contest looked hot for the grade and my selection will appreciate dropping back to 5f and into more calmer waters.

Good Banter 5/6 – Wolverhampton 5.00

Odds on shots are not for everyone, but at 5/6, I feel Good Banter is just about worth a bet in this contest for trainer Clive Cox and jockey Rossa Ryan.

Good Banter overcame long odds of 25/1 on debut, running an impressive race to finish a narrow second behind the well-backed favorite Sarab Star. Sarab Star was unable to follow up next time out when disappointing in the competitive Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes. The Mill Reef is a hot race and that calibre of race may have come too soon for her. It's worth noting that Sarab Star's holds entries in future Group races so I can only assume on that basis that Good Banter's debut performance can be considered a solid piece of form heading into this contest.

George Boughey's Target Man should give my selection the most to think about. The Amo Racing owned youngster as finished runner up on both outings so far this year. With that said, there was a long 154 day break between each run which I found a tad concerning and the form of both those outings looks questionable on paper. From the remainder, I thought some of the newcomers were of interest at the prices, in particular the James Ferguson trained Oceans Charm, which has young Billy Loughnane on board for its debut run.
