Monday was another tough day at the office, with none of the three selections landing a blow in their races.

Kento was trapped behind a wall of horses when entering the final few furlongs, but he wouldn't have been good enough even with a clear run.

I think we were a tad unlucky not to get a winner from Rizzel yesterday. Tawajjah was well-supported into 100/30 from 6/1 and was the last off the bridle. It seemed like an eternity for Jim Crowley to press the button, and it ended up in the horse losing in a head bobber, which is always sickening to watch when it's 50/50 on whether your horse has his head down or not. The Whipmaster must've been trading in the odds-on realm for his run as he was cruising at Windsor but then found zilch for pressure. That was a painful and frustrating watch.

Cairnzy's Tips

Al Misbar 13/8- Yarmouth 3.05

For my sole selection on Tuesday, I've gone for the Godolphin runner Al Misbar. My selection has let favourite backers down on two occasions already, but I think he's only around the corner from breaking his maiden.

Al Misbar finished fourth on debut at Ascot, which wasn't a bad effort given he completely fluffed the start, giving away around 3L to the main pack before the race even began. I thought he travelled well back into the race but was unable to land a blow on the eventual winner who had first run under Ryan Moore. The winner was pitched into Group Company on his following two outings but was never competitive, however, the second-placed horse Back In Black has since boosted the form when going one better next time around and has recently finished a close third in a competitive Class 3 handicap behind two decent sorts in Yaroogh and Spell Master who are rated 90 and 86 respectfully.

Al Misbar took a step forward on his second outing for Charlie Appleby when finishing runner-up at Newmarket, two and a half lengths behind the winner The Lost King. My selection took a step up in trip from 6f to 7f for that contest, and despite travelling well for a long way, it appeared that he didn't see out the trip that day. The form of that particular contest reads well though, with the third-placed horse winning next time out, beating a decent sort in Angel Hunter, who had previously won a competitive Class 2 handicap at York the race before.

Connections have opted to drop Al Misbar back down in trip for this contest, and for that reason alone you'd assume they see their youngster as more of a sprinter. James Doyle takes the ride and it should be an interesting matchup, as the market seemingly has this down as a two-horse race with Saeed bin Suroor's runner shading favouritism at the time of writing.

Rizzel's Tips

Princess Shabnam 10/1 EW – Yarmouth 4.35

This is an interesting Class 3 sprint race over 6f with the top weight trying this distance for the first time and has the form to be seriously involved. There are many in here who have good claims for the win, including an old selection of mine, Rosy Affair who I did look closely at, but I ended up taking a chance on Princess Shabnam who I thought ran a blinder at Kempton last time when things definitely didn't go to plan.

I watched the Princess Shabnam race at the time it happened as I was close to tipping up the horse who finished in fifth, who managed to win yesterday after being supported from 18/1 into 13/2, and yes I also looked at him for that race as well which is painful. However, less of the whinging about not backing winners, Princess Shabnam was well supported at Kempton last time when she was dropped in class into a class 4 with the first-time visor likely to be the reason for the support. The visor definitely did the job as she broke out of the gates and was extremely keen and was far too headstrong for Hollie Doyle. She was rolling at a serious pace and was only collared in the final half furlong, but she did well in the circumstances off 10st 1lbs. With the fifth horse already boosting the form, I get the impression that those in and around the places will boost it more in the future.

This race is tougher as she is going back up to a class 3, but she has shown this season that she can compete at this level. She was 3rd/6 at Epsom behind the eventual winner of the Epsom Dash, and was then 5th/11 at Goodwood behind Kitai who runs in this race today, but we have a favourable weight swing. In the Goodwood race she looked to be outpaced and was staying on towards the end, so at a more conventional track she should be more at home, especially as she was a C&D back in her 2-year-old days which seems like ages ago but she is still only a 5-year-old.

The trainer, S Woods has been firing in winners in the last two weeks, with four winners from twenty runners, with many running well in defeat, so I think a big run is on the cards, similar to her last run, as long as the visor does the desired effect two runs in a row. She is running off a very dangerous handicap mark of 79 when you look at her runs off marks in the 90s last season.

High Velocity 7/1 EW – Redcar 3.43

It's always dangerous going back in on horses you've already tipped, but I'm willing to give High Velocity another chance back on the turf.

High Velocity seems better on the all-weather so it is a gamble backing him on the grass but he has run well on the turf this season, and it's interesting that they are persisting with him on this surface as they must feel there is something to exploit with his current handicap mark and I tend to agree. He is 7lbs lower on the turf than he is on the all-weather and Brandon Wilkie gets in the saddle today, taking off a further 5lbs, meaning he is running off a rating of 56 today. That rating makes him ridiculously well handicapped from his older pieces of form, even from his turf form. He was 3rd/7 at Nottingham on fast ground, a couple of lengths behind the winner, but that form has worked out nicely. The winner has managed to win again, producing an RPR of 80 in the process, and is now rated 10lbs higher than when High Velocity was behind him. The runner-up won his next start with a good amount of authority. The same horse didn't manage to back it up on the weekend just gone, but he broke out of the stalls like a snail and it was impossible for him to get involved. High Velocity, was running off a mark of 63 that day and was well clear of those in behind, so I think there is definite room to work with, with today's low mark.

True Wisdom 8/1 EW – Redcar 4.43

I'm sure True Wisdom will be weak in the market due to more ‘progressive' horses in the lineup, but I think there's definitely a good horse with True Wisdom and I don't think you can write him off just yet.

Saeed Bin Suroor always has to be respected when sending his runners to Yorkshire and even further North, but his horse in this race looks best suited to the warm sunny racing of Meydan and every time he has returned to the UK he hasn't lit the track on fire. See That Storm has close form with Shimmering Sands and the pair of runners have to be respected and will likely be at there fighting for the win at the finish.

True Wisdom has shown glimpses of her ability during his lightly raced career, with her mile win at Newmarket last year as a 2-year-old being the standout piece of form. You can't take that form literally as True Wisdom hasn't exactly gone on to do too much since, but it shows that there is a good horse in there somewhere. She beat Bellum Justum who has since become a 110-rated horse, including a Group 3 $830k win at Kentucky Downs in the USA. Since then, True Wisdom has been kept to undulating tracks, which I don't think has suited her, she has often been unbalanced, so it's strange that connections have committed to the tracks like Goodwood, Lingfield and Epsom. She has run in some very strong races like a class 2 at the Glorious Goodwood festival, and I think today's race which is easier than her recent turf assignments will see him in a better life. She is now running off a mark of 77 and I think a flat, galloping track like Redcar could be well suited for her.

NAP of the day is now 0-9.
If anyone has followed religiously one 10-1 winner would wipe that out.
Trouble is followers would have probably thrown in the towel now and started busking to make a few bob 🤣
