Torino are aiming to maintain their fine start to the season as they travel to Venezia for a Friday night Serie A fixture. The Turin club are still unbeaten this season and should have too much for their hosts who are still seeking their first win.
It has been a difficult return to the Serie A for Venezia, who are struggling to cope with the rigours of top flight football. They are yet to secure a win so far and have already crashed out in the first round of the Coppa Italia.
Manager Eusebio Di Francesco will look to take some positives from their previous fixture as they earned a 0-0 draw against Fiorentina. Aside from holding out at the back, they also looked a bit lively going forward but were wasteful in front of goal.
While Venezia are struggling to get going, Torino have made a positive start to the campaign. Paolo Vanoli’s men are looking confident at the moment and have picked up two wins and a draw from three matches across all competitions.
Torino head into Friday’s clash off the back of a 2-1 victory over Atalanta in their previous Serie A fixture. They fought back from a goal down with Ivan Ilic scoring the equaliser before Che Adams netted the winner on his full debut.
How the bookies view it: Bookies backing Torino
Torino have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at evens with Betfred to claim the win. Venezia are considered outsiders with a home win priced at 11/4 while Betfred is also offering 12/5 for a draw.
Head to head: Venezia on top
Venezia have a 6-2 advantage with six draws from 14 previous matches against Torino. The Venice club claimed a 2-1 victory in the last meeting back in 2022.
Players to watch: Zapata on fire
Duvan Zapata has made a fine start to the season, scoring in two of the three matches so far. The Colombian striker will be the one to watch for Torino and is priced at 13/8 by Betfred to get on the score sheet.
With Joel Pohjanpalo still out injured, Christian Gytkjaer will be the one to watch for Venezia. The forward is expected to lead the line on Friday and is priced at 5/2 with Betfred to score anytime.
Probable line-ups
Pohjanpalo remains sidelined with injury and is ruled out for Venezia. Nicholas Pierini is pushing for a start after coming off the bench last time out while Gytkjaer should continue in attack.
Adam could be set for another start for Torino after scoring in his full debut last time out. The striker should partner Zapata in attack while Karol Linetty is expected to continue in midfield.
Venezia: Joronen, Altare, Idzes, Sverko, Candela, Duncan, Kofod Andersen, Zampano, Pierini, Ellertson, Gytkjaer
Torino: Milinkovic-Savic, Masina, Saul Coco, Tameze, Lazaro, Ilic, Linetty, Ricci, Vojvoda, Adams, Zapata
