Euro 2024 Bet of the day

After Tuesday’s late winner in Istanbul, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Irish top flight, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that I expect to be a low-scorer.

⚽️ Dundalk vs Galway United

🇮🇪 Premier Division

⏰ Friday 2 August, 19:45

Dundalk will look to claim back-to-back home wins for the first time this campaign as they welcome sixth-placed Galway United to Oriel Park on Friday evening in a fixture that I’m keen to oppose goals in.

Ex-Rangers Striker Jon Daly has seen his side score the fewest goals in the Irish Premier Division, scoring just 18 goals across their opening 25 matches, with only eight (44%) of them coming on home soil.

The Railwaymen have failed to score in 13/25 (52%) of their league outings – including in 8/12 (67%) of them in front of their supporters – and may find it difficult to breach a Galway defence that’s conceded just 18 goals in the league this campaign, keeping a joint league-high 12 clean sheets.

John Caulfield’s visitors are the second-lowest scorers in the Irish Premier Division, scoring just 19 goals across their opening 24 matches, with nine (47%) of them coming on their travels.

The Tribesmen have failed to score in 12/24 (50%) of their league outings – including in each of their last three and five of their previous nine on the road – and face a Dundalk defence that has recorded eight clean sheets across their last 10 league contests in front of their supporters.

Bet of the Day

Dundalk’s opening 10 Irish Premier Division fixtures in front of their supporters this term have averaged just 1.58 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score – No landing in 11 (92%) of them – and given both have failed to oblige in a league-high 19/24 (79%) of Galway’s league outings this term – I’m happy to have a punt on there not being goals at both ends, a selection that has landed in both previous meetings this term.

  • Both Teams to Score – No
  • Pays 1/1 (Skybet)
