Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood awaits punters on Friday, and it promises to be another exciting and competitive day of racing.
Cairnzy and Rizzel have selected two horses each for Friday's Lucky 15 bet which you can find below.
Cairnzy's tips
Al Musmak 10/3 – Goodwood 2.25
I'm a huge fan of jockey Silvestre De Sousa and he has some nice rides on Goodwood on Friday, In particular Al Musmak in this Group 3 contest for three-year-olds over the mile.
Trainer Roger Varian is having a decent week with his runners and Al Musmak could very well continue the trend on Friday afternoon. Al Musmak was a tad disappointing when returning to the track in May, finishing seventh twice at Group level at York and Ascot. He returned to form at Newmarket last time out when landing a listed contest over a mile on good to firm ground. My selection has already had the better of main market rival Lead Artist and I'm struggling to see how that one can reverse the form with my selection. I think the drop back to a mile from 1m2 suited Al Musmak, and he can go well once more under jockey Silvestre De Sousa, who rode him to victory last time out.
Big Evs 11/4 – Goodwood 3.35
Trainer Mick Appleby already has a winner this week with Big Mojo, who won the same contest yesterday that Big Eves won the previous year.
I'm a huge fan of Big Evs, he's all speed and he looks like a very straightforward ride. He's one of the most talented sprinters in the business and brings some of the best form to the table with Group wins at Santa Anita and Doncaster last year.
He returned after a break to win a Listed contest at York before finishing second last time out behind the reopposing Asfoora in a Group One in June. My selection is very much back for revenge, and I can see him reversing the form with Asfoora, as that one has a tricky draw to contend with, which could be the difference when the pair meet on Friday afternoon.
Rizzel's tips
Asinara 4/1 – Southwell 4.20
I'll give a chance to Asinara in this Class 5 0-70 handicap over 6f.
It looks like a decent race for the grade with some unexposed types, and a couple coming into this race in decent form, with Asinara probably being top of the list. Charlie Hills' 3-year-old from Harry Angel has already showed an aptitude for the all-weather, even at today's track when finishing 3rd/10 earlier in the season. He has been an expensive horse to follow, being a beaten favourite on three occasions, but he has shown a decent level of ability and will be better seen now in handicaps. They managed to get a win on the board in an egg-and-spoon race against two other rivals last time out, but the form of his previous races stacks up pretty well in this race and he looks a solid contender.
We're Reunited – Bath 7.35
For this Classified Stakes race, I thought that We're Reunited could get his fourth career win at a track he seems to run well at.
This is We're Reunited's level, he can run well at bottom-tier handicaps, shown by being placed at this track earlier this season, but in a classified stakes race he seems best as this stage of his career. He was placed on his most recent start on the AW in this level and was second at Bath in the same type of race, so is running consistently well in defeat. This doesn't look the strongest of races, which is hardly a surprise, and I think this is a nice opportunity for Michael Blake's horse to get a first win since 2022 which came with Tom Greatrex on board at this track in this grade of race.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
