Sunday’s Football Tips: Will there be a Brondby hangover at Viborg after Danish title heartache?

THERE'S plenty of football across the globe for punters today but I'm sticking to Scandinavia after all three Super Singles landed in Friday's games.

It's the opening weekend of the league season in Denmark and it will be interesting to see how Brondby respond at Viborg today after last term's title heartache.

A disastrous 3-2 loss at home to Aarhus saw the crown slip out of Brondby's grasp on the final as Midtjylland pipped them at the post by a single point.

There might be a hangover heading into the new campaign but Viborg could only finish in the bottom half of the table last term and their stadium has been a happy hunting ground for Brondby.

Viborg v Brondby Top Betting Tips

Brondby have an incredible record at Viborg and you have to go all the way back to 2006 for the last time they lost there. But recent visits have been tight games, with a couple of single-goal victories and two draws in their last four at the Viborg Stadium.

That makes me think this one should be close, especially on the opening day as new signings bed in, and the half-time draw appeals at 5/4 with Betfred.

Viborg have been scoring freely in pre-season and Renato Junior netted twice in the friendly win over Aalborg. The young Brazilian will have his tail up and looks a bit overpriced at 3/1 with Bet365 for anytime scorer.

Haugseund v Viking Stavanger Top Tips

There's plenty of action in Norway too and the pick of the games sees fourth-placed Viking Stavanger visit Haugesund.

Viking have games in hand on the teams above them in the table so I wouldn't rule them out of the title reckoning, especially if they can pick up another three points today.

Haugesund are hovering just above the drop zone so it's no surprise to see them as 21/10 outsiders today, with Viking looking well worth a punt at evens.

But the strugglers have been a tough nut to crack for the top teams as they lost just 1-0 to leaders Bodo/Glimt earlier this month then held second-placed Brann to a draw last time out.

That makes the half-time draw appealing here too at 11/8 while betting against BTTS pays the same price.

Elfsborg v Mjallby Top Tips

There's a big game in Sweden today as third-placed Mjallby look to keep their title charge on track with a win on the road at Elfsborg.

A run of four successive victories has fired Mjallby into the reckoning for the crown, especially after they beat leaders Malmo last weekend.

But fifth-placed Elfsborg have also hit a purple patch since getting over the upheaval of boss Jimmy Thelin leaving for Aberdeen.

They have also won four in a row and have looked particularly slick in their last two outings, smashing five past Hacken and Pafos.

That clash with Pafos was in Europe on Thursday though so the quick turnaround in games could be a factor. Mjallby are 5/2 for a win and that might be a worth a punt, while they are 5/6 in the double chance.

We should see goals based on Elfsborg's recent results and combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals pays 49/50.
